Windows Media Player 10...

Question

Does anybody know if the library on Windows Media Player 10 has any kind of limit? because I'm having troubles with it. It only let me have 2400 songs, and I have more than that...

I played them, they should be added automaticaly to library, but they are not.

If you know some way of getting past this limitation, please let me know.

Of course there's not a limit to the number of tracks you can add; I haven't a clue what notuptome2004 is on about.

A possible cause is that WMP, by default, excludes files smaller than a certain size (100KB or something). Although I doubt that many of your files would be excluded by this as the vast majority of mp3s are over the default limit.

I've been doing something that seems to be working, but it's soo slow...

If I do the "Search for Media Files" thing, it doesn't work. But, if I play the files manually, they begin to be added to the Library, although it delays like 20 seconds per song... and I need to keep them on the "Now Playing list", if not, it doesn't work.

As of right now I have 2296 songs in my WM10 library. So in short, there is no limit.

But you don't even have 2300 songs? If in fact there was a limitation, you wouldn't know, because it would be at 2400.

Not trolling, but I'm just saying.

A quick Google search would show you that there exist no threads on this or other forums where people have discussed any sort of limit on the library. I think a quick look at his mp3 folder and/or library settings would reveal the issue to be his own and not one with the software.

Mine currently stands at 4714 files, but had been well over 5000 before I culled it:

There's no limit

and notuptome2004

Your first post sounded like an ad for iTunes and did make you sound like a fanboy.

well i have used both players and sutch but for audio i do pearsonly enjoy Itunes and its more advanced search and file managment system it offers for music over WMP10 now for Videos WMP10 or otehr player Not Itunes and or Quicktime . i do pearsonly hope WMP11 will take advantage of the advanced searching technolagies in Vista and possably port over them for the Xp version. anyways merry belated christmas and hope you all havea great new year .

I played them, they should be added automaticaly to library, but they are not.

Files aren't added to your library when they're played; they're added when they are moved into one of the folders that is monitored by WMP.

To configure monitored folders: Tools menu > Options > Library tab > Monitor Folders button.

Just to provide some definitive factuality: those pointing out that there is no limit are correct. The biggest library I know (I work at MS) of is made up of over 23 terabytes of songs. If anybody even gets CLOSE to that, I'm stunned. :)

If the library starts not adding files it used to add, either those files were marked as deleted/excluded from the library or you've hit a library database corruption.

To configure monitored folders: Tools menu > Options > Library tab > Monitor Folders button.

Incorrect, they can be added when played, when monitored and in other ways too. For the menu, click on add to library in the bottom left of wmp10 in library tab.

To original poster, is the red boxed option checked in wmp10 for you?
