Upload Speed:Download Speed ratio sucks for those of us on arse connections.

i have 8k/s up and 64k/s down, but if I limit my upload to 6k/s then my download is throttled to 18k/s with uTorrent 1.4.

imo the ratio should be 1:10 or something, not 1:3 when upload speed is low. I stay on torrents all night to return what i download, but I dislike being penalised for my crappy upload speed by giving me a _really_ crappy download speed in return.

I don't really understand why people are complaining about the download throttling. If you upload slower you download slower that is the basis of bittorrent. Think of it this way. You have a low upload speed so it keeps you from downloading fast. That just means you have to remain on the torrent longer to grab everything. In that time you upload more and by the time you are done are closer to seeding 1:1. The only people complaining about this are people with crap connections who want to jump on, leech and jump off.

Check changelog

"- Feature: Lower download speed if upload is set too low."

No wonder why, I was downloading a 50MB patch yesterday and it took like 2 hours. I was being selfish and set my upload to 1KB/s. Serves me right for cheating the system. Edited by jmole

i think the upload/download thing it quite good, tho i do have one slight trouble over it.

i'm downloading a big file, and there are no seeders just peers (or leechers, ok) i've just started downloading but everyone is at 90%, now they are not interested in downloading off me cos they have more of the file.

So with the upload/download feature, will this mean that it will take me longer to grab the file? Am i be penalised because no-one else wants to download from me?

QFT...if you wanna "leech", move to newsgroups. I'm not here to upload to a bunch of selfish f***s...

Nope it doesn't matter what speed you are uploading at. It matters what you have set your maximum upload limit at in the client itself :)

"Better download speeds from BitComet clients."

I don't understand that. Does it mean you download faster from users who use BitComet than in previous versions, or you download faster from them than from a user using BitTornado or Azureus?

I always seemed to have problems connecting to BitComet users, don't know if it was how BitComet works (or ?T's fault) but now I seem to connect to as many BitComet users as ?T or AZ users.

Ouch. I should really figure out what to look for such problem since I have no other connection issue. Anybody for a hint?

Tried the speed guide? Also delete the all of your AppData and see if that fixes it.

edit: Dude. Get that DHT enabled! VVVVVVV

Yep, I read all the docs from the ?torrent website, but nothing applies to my problem.

Also deleted the application data, but the issue is still there: torrents go for half an hour, then get to zero and my connection is unable to receive or send any packet even after having shut the ?torrent down. Pretty weird.

I'll try asking in those dedicated forum, btw.
