Steffan
The NHL is the lastest league to begin random drug testing. The testing will begin on Sunday. They will test players up to 2 times a season. They are monitoring for anabolic steroids and growth hormones. They will not test for ephedrine, which is found in common cold medicines. Once a player is notified they have tested positive for a banned substance, they have the right to appeal. If the appeal is denied or the player doesn't appeal, then the league and the NHLPA will annouce the that the player has been suspended. The first suspension is 20 games, the second suspension is 60 games and the third suspension is permanent.
