Neocast Gamers Podcast discussion

Recommended Posts

Just an fyi for those guys who actually listen to this one :p

The first cast was intended to be a test more than anything. We recorded it rediculously late at night just so we could have something to launch with. The Neocast section of Poweruser is still on its way as of this post, same with the rss feeds.

I also definitely liked it. Great job. (Y) I listened to it at work today and it made the minutes fly by.

Just a few words of advice since you did ask for them in the Main News Post about it...

Just one technical thing I noticed, literally just one, and I am sure maybe someone has already mentioned it, but if it is possible my man's LOC voice needs to be a tad higher so the two voices even out.

Now, this is just a suggestion or "idea" if you will, but I think doing something along the lines of picking actual posts by the members, and/or starting a thread that specifically gets discussed in the podcast itself, within the main gamers section or subsections, and then talking about the said thread may be a good idea. What this achieves is two things...

1) It gives the members here of Neowin something to relate to everytime, and after they listen to the podcast, or even during for that matter, they can go check out said post(s) that have been mentioned and either build on them more or simply just see what other members had to say. What this does is push the community vibe even further and also makes it a more colobarative experience, which tends to draw people in even more.

2) What it also can hopefully achieve is I would imagine that it is hoped that more people than just Neowin members listen to the podcast itself. So if you reference a post here on the forums, it very wel could potentially drive new people who are interesed in gaming to join Neowin and add further to the already established community.

The last part is obviously just my two cents, so take it for what you will...

Seriously a great first start, and if you ever need some more help reach out to me.

It's Skype man, Idon't know what it is, in Ventrilo my voice is fine. But in Skype it's much lower. Not much I can really do about it though.

Great show guys, does anyone know what that song is called that they played at the end, its like a Price is Right remix or something.

Actually, that is the Price is Right remix :p

I shall attempt to equalize out Mr. Todd's voice next cast we do (Y)

It only needs a very little, and it is me really being somewhat fickle about things, but I just think it would make it that much better. If it cannot be done, it is still fine and you can hear him no question. I just used to be in a band for 5 years, so as a result I probably tend to focus on audio more than the normal person, I fully admit that. With that said, it is worth a shot to try, it cannot hurt things, and if it cannot be done, truly no biggy at all.

Definitely a great first start, and what I really liked is it was "real." What I mean by "real" is that so many game related shows and websites try to put a humorous spin on things, which in my opinion more often than not they fail miserably. You are just two guys really into games talking about them like a normal gamer would, and not some hosts who are always trying to be witty and get a laugh out of it as well.

I look forward to future episodes. (Y)

are you using skype 2.0 ?

Try the following in Skype (Version 1.2 and above):

1. In the Skype program go to Tools-> Options-> Sound Devices

2. Uncheck the box: Enable automating Sound-device setting adjustment.
