I thought I come in again, say a few words, maybe calm a few people down, pass out some chocolates and sit down with a pencil and a notepad on a comfy chair saying "what seems to be the trouble, young one?" and say a few niceties and so on... what am I saying? A lot of you are at fault for dragging me into this :p . Alright, let us start on a more serious note. I can understand some people being a bit sad (or downhearted, or depressed, or frustrated, or angry, or furious, or tearful, or psychotic - you choose which category you fall in) that em3 and Capric0rn will not allow any mods to be released and that they'll probably send in a nuclear warhead to your home (or nasty germs in your mail - to each their own) than allow it to even happened. Now this might be the time that you're thinking you've finally going to have someone else to champion for your cause, someone you believe who could swing the tide, someone with very good English writing skills, someone who has good breath - such as me. Well too bad, as I'm pitching in with the other lot and I'm not budging anytime soon.

Some of you will probably hate me for this (or maybe they already do, I do not know but I have treated everyone as an equal and with total respect, unless of course you just like to hate me, in which case I can only shake my head and hope you will see the true error of your ways) but em3 and Capric0rn have every right to ask for this restrictions, simply because you are using their theme on your computer. Sure, maybe it is based on Luna though it is a 1000 times nicer and according to the gods (Microsoft) who created it, you can't copy, change, paste, cut, move, redraw, reload, refurbish, renovate - do you wish for me to continue? The point is that they put in a whole lot of work (more than what Microsoft did) and created something that is truly beautiful and can stand in its own right compared to other themes. There are not that many themes out there that are truly unique, and Luna Element is one of them. Sure, it's a bit of a bum that we can't have something that we really like in that theme, it's not like we're paying for it, isn't it? Which brings me to my other point, as this theme is free, which means you pay 0, zero, kosong, empty, nada and so on in every other language on this planet (or maybe the universe if you feel a bit creative, Jawa, anyone?).

Doesn't that tell you anything? The fact of the matter is that we're getting a theme that has been constructed very well, has been worked with painstaking care to ensure its quality - all for free. It's not like those free chocolate samples, where you only get one bite or it's a trial where after using it for 30 days, your screen will be plastered with "Your trial for Luna Element has expired, please pay $1000 so you don't have to see this stupid and annoying pop up every freaking day you have it installed on your PC or if your a cheapskate, get a bloody crack and keygen on the internet, doubletime!". No, we get to enjoy this theme on our computer which changes our lives so much that we feel calm and relaxed everytime we switch on our computers so that we can work better and so on and so forth - you get the picture, don't you? Isn't it enough? Instead of being stuck with bloody boring Luna (hey, that rhymes!), we get Luna Element (insert drum roll here).

Alright, I'll be really serious this time. em3 and Capric0rn have put a lot of effort in this and have done it not only for themselves, but for others as well to enjoy. That really should be enough as they are willing to let others use their theme on your computer, something that you should be grateful. Considering that they have no obligation to release it says it all. You have with you a theme that has been worked on for no amount incurred. You do have a right to give suggestions and criticise a certain part but ultimately it is up to them if they wish they want to include it or not. You can only respect their decision and one of their decisions is that no mods are allowed to be released. You may not agree with it but that is how it goes, and you can do nothing about it. If you are not happy with it, create your own theme - one that you feel reflects what you really need on your desktop. At the end of the day, I look at it this way - it is a very beautiful theme, but it is only a theme. It's not the end of the world if I don't get my way. I respect what they do simply because I go through what they go through and more. I have a Degree in Multimedia and I have knowledge about nearly every creative program that exists - Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Visual Studio and C++, Sony Sound Forge/Acid/Vegas, LightWave 3D, 3D Studio Max, Maya, AutoCAD - the list practically goes on. I have knowledge on HCI, Computer Animation, Object Oriented Programming and goodness knows what else.

I get PM's everyday asking for a set of icons that I have made in my desktop in which I post in the monthly desktop thread. Most of them demand that it be released and use foul language (I'm sure there are minors on this board, let's respect them) when they don't get it. However, there are just a few, a certain few who know what I go through to create them, to make them look beautiful, quality and respect me for what I've done. These are the people that make me feel that it is better for me to share it. So this is to em3 and Capric0rn, there are others out there who do not know the meaning of respect, or have no idea what we go through to create a piece of art, but know that there are those who respect what you create, including yours truly. Do not let those ignorant pull you down ;) .

So what have we learn so far? Simply put, they have the choice to say what they want. Deal with it  !

Batman FTW.

I've got one expression to show. !

Wall of Text Crits you for 25023 points of damage!

It's long but funny! :D

I agree with Scirwode on this one. Batman is awesome. His incredibly long and well written argument thing was good too.

@Digix: HmmmXP is based off of Windows Classic. By "based" I mean it IS Windows Classic with a couple of changes here and there such as different coloring, a different start menu etc...The point being that themes based off of Windows Classic and lacking a lot of detail can usually be modded without any consequence. Don't get me wrong, HmmmXP is an excellent theme but it's really not the same as LE5. Luna Element has been finely crafted and with a large amount of detail. It took em3 and Cap time to create those detailed images so coming in and completely redoing all that would take the originality away from the theme.

@Pip: Try searching on DeviantArt for an LE5.1 Rainlander skin. Is that the right app? Meh, I can't ever remember. I'm sure there is something out there but if not, it's only a matter of time.

@acies: OOoooh. Those icons are smexy. Thanks for the linkie!

so speaking in those terms either you have to like the theme as it is or tough luck you can go make your own LE 5.1 on your own from scratch to your liking ... kinda defies the point really. If you buy a car which specifically states do not change any tiny part of this car or we'll take it off you and not sell this car again, nobody is going to buy the car in the first place even if it was a mercedez e class or something for example.

also respect has nothing to do with personal preferences or opinions.

I admit i asked for the mod because I don't like orange in the 5.1 black theme and i don't have the tools installed to mod it myself so does that mean i can't use it no. If you're going to release a theme you have to expect it to be modded to personal likings otherwise you're going to have re-do the theme on requests individually so we don't have to mod it, simple as that. Sound like too much work ? then allow mods. You cannot justify not allowing mods to something so open to modding. If you don't want it being modded properly make people pay for it and stick a license on it if you feel it's that precious to preserve your own authentic work.

It's obvious the people who have already modded this, they never claimed it was their own work or "ripped" so to speak. They gave props to the original theme, what else can you do ? tell them to bugger off you're not allowed a personal preference on my work and get it removed, not very friendly to people using YOUR theme is it.

We wont change our decisions just cause some of you guys dont accept them. At first it was cool to release my own skin for LE now that thought changed. It's sad that the customization communitie as only a few that really accept the artists decisions. I'm glad some of them are here to stand up for the artists.

artists aren't only the original makers though, artists are the people who also take their time out to do another job you don't feel like doing and giving users an alternative look. like i said if you're not going to help users who don't like certain parts who is ? a community is allowing everyone an effort and opinion. not "i am drill sergeant you are person, do as i say"

Just drop the subject :/ Our decisions wont change with what you say. We dont allow mods and that's that. If you dont like surtain parts looks around on the net for a guide or something. It's hard to make something that everyone likes so we arent going to change very single little bit in a theme just so that everyone likes every single tiny bit on it. If we like the skin that we make and think that some other might like it we release it to the public. To bad for the people with the cries about a startbutton that they dont like etc. Use it or dont use it.

Mods arent allowed and that's that. End of discussion.

I am so going to write one more thing off-topic. Just for kicks. I really seriously do want to know this though lol.

Does anyone know a program that adds a drop shadow to the taskbar ONLY. I know there is Y'z Shadow but maximized windows look funky and I really don't like that program because it adds shadows everywhere and things start looking odd. Maybe a way to have a drop shadow on the taskbar but when windows are maximized, the shadow disappears. Am I making any sense?

You can do that with Avedesk and Samurize. Make a PNG image that you want to use as a shadow and use that in a Samurize config or a Avedesk desklet. I used to do that when I wanted shadows on my desk :p

I haven't a clue how to do any of what you just said :p Meh. I probably should just settle for Y'z Shadow. I just think that the shadow overlapping the titlebar looks funky with LE5.1. It probably looks funky no matter what VS you use. LE5.1 is just way better than all other styles :p
