djesteban
man... those are certainly not good sales number for the Sony PS3. I hope Sony will crash hard with this console and learn for the mistake they made

dnast
I didn't realize GTA was popular over there. I wonder why it took so long for San Andreas to be translated and released.

AlphaPrime
If you're going to post sales, please post them all. I thought I'd stop posting the bottom 5 since their sales are pretty much too insignificant to matter. But if you really want to know, fine, I'll post them all next week. I didn't think anyone cared about them.
gunnerhkjp
eh meaning what? Localization meaning they get Japanese voiceovers and subtitles. Censorship meaning games like GTA, dead rising and Gears of war get their content trimmed. For example, the dead bodies hanging on trees in GOW don't have their innards showing in Japan. In GTASA, some of the minigames have been removed, and you don't get money from people you run over. And dead rising, supposedly, has had numerous cuts. George P Global Moderator Posted February 5, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted February 5, 2007 That's just weird, you figure for Japan, the land that sells and makes so many twisted hentai videos/games that a bit of gore wouldn't be a problem. Oogle
My guess is that the moral value system is probably different. In Japan, sex is less taboo than violence. In the US, it's the other way around.

George P Global Moderator Posted February 9, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted February 9, 2007 Hmm, not a big change, aside from Wii sales dipping quite a bit. PS3 is still around the same level, so is the PS2, the 360 dropped a bit, but overall it's doing pretty good in Japan compared to the original, we all knew that MS wasn't going to win in Japan, but this is a big improvment over the original Xbox. Xerus
How does DSlite continue to sell like this? Do they buy a DSlite, play a game on it, then throw it away to buy a new one?

gunnerhkjp
How does DSlite continue to sell like this? Do they buy a DSlite, play a game on it, then throw it away to buy a new one? Last I heard, 1 in 10 people in Japan own a DS. Nintendo still has 9 out of 10 people to go  I think the reality is that a whole bunch is being exported to China. George P Global Moderator Posted February 20, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted February 20, 2007 As it's been said above, they buy DSs and export them, samething with the PS2, that's why they keep selling them 5 years on etc.

George P Global Moderator Posted February 23, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted February 23, 2007 No real change it seems, 360 sales are starting to slow down, they need a new game to push things again.
