I just bought the logitech media keyboard. fairly pleased with it. the only thing is that i can't remove any of the OSD's that flash up when I use the hotkeys. and trust me, I have looked, there is no option in setpoint to enable/disable this feature. any hints?

Just remove the Logitech Software in Add/Remove.

This is how i did it with my Logitech mouse and keyboard:

1. Click the logitech icon in the taskbar.

2. Go to Tools tab.

3. There's like a flashing light on the left hand side, click that.

4. Untick the box that says "Show status settings (such as Caps Lock) on screen".

Now if that dont work then i seriously don't no only other suggestion is what Koolance said - Uninstall the logitech software

Yes I did, and I only found software that adds their own hotkeys to the system, and then shows the OSD when I use them, but they ignore my dedicated laptop volume keys.
I have a OSD that look like the one in MacOSX...

PM if you want it, the site of the author dosn't work well, so I can't link it.

Thanks for the reply, NI3NOR, but I already tried that one. It's not very good, as it has less steps than the volume slider does, so every 2 steps it misses one. As in, I press the volume key 3 times, and it only goes up 2 levels.

There's a real lack of programs that do this, huh? :(

I have :( No luck. My laptop doesn't come with software that shows the volume when I press the dedicated buttons, so I was hoping I could find a sofware that does it for me.

Install MS IntelliPoint 5.5.

(Just tell it that you are using the standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 keyboard when installing....)

Ok so I found this on another webpage and I figured I'd share it with as many people as I could so ... If you all could, after you see this please post it on as many sites that you know of. A lot of people are sharing this problem lets give them as much help as we can.

And just so everyone knows I did try it myself and I couldn't be happier.

Here's how the volume bar works in all Media Center (2004-2005) and how to change it :

Create a .txt file with the following :

----------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\VolumeDisplay]

"Disable"=dword:00000000

"FontSize"=dword:00000024

"Color"=dword:00ffffff

"Timeout"=dword:000003e8

----------------------------------------------------

Don't include the --------

Now here are what the settings do:

Disable: (enable or disable the volume bar)

- 00000000 (bar is shown)

- 00000001 (bar is hidden)

FontSize: (decide the font sized used to display the word "volume")

- 00000024 is font size 36 (it's hexadecimal value), for exemple 00000014 is fontsize 20, etc..

Color: (the color of the control bar and of the word "volume")

00ffffff corresponds to white, 00000000 corresponds to black. also hexadecimal.

If you want an easy way to find out, just check the color you want in HTML:

If HTML is #00AAFF for exemple, then you need to put value 00FFAA00, or for HTML #556677, the value will be 00776655

Timeout: (it represent the duration of displaying the volume bar)

000003e8 corrsponds to 1000 ms = 1 seconde. For exemple, 1,5 second is 000005dc, or 2 second is 000007d0

So replace accordingly the above with the value that you like, save as "bar.reg" then double click on it and reboot the PC!

If your interested in seeing the original thread this came from here is the link...

What you see at top is the default settings. Just to be safe I made 2 files.

My 1st file is a .txt file. Basically I took all the info at top and saved it as bar.txt so that I have a copy of the default settings if I ever want to change it back.

My 2nd file I made all the adjustments and then while saving it i changed the name to bar.reg.

After saving the .reg file locate it and you'll be able to see the difference right away. The .reg file is the file that looks like it has a stack of blue blocks. Open it click YES and then REBOOT.

I've got this nasty green volume on-screen display, and i can't figure out how to get rid of it or what's running it. I've already got a dell one that does the job, so i don't want two. someone help?

Try reshacking the setpoint driver executables to find the bitmaps used and clear them.

for the rest of you, do the same thing and change the color or size (if you can).

I had the MX5000 set and hated it. setpoint is garbage. I actually ended up buying the microsoft bluetoof set.
