Guys I think the real question on everyone's mind is, Who will take Marcus "Assault & Battery" Vick?

(if anybody)

Unfortunately he'll get signed...I heard Arizona had a bit of interest in him.

Whyyy Whyyy Whyyyyyyyyy, I wish they wouldn't make criminals like him into a role model for kids. Thats what they are doing you know. They are rewarding him for his thug bullcrap.

You guys are acting like Bush has already made the Pro-Bowl 17 times and Williams has already been declared a bust.

It all depends on what happens in the future, not what happens on draft day that will determine if the Texans are a "laughing stock" of the NFL.

Well, they are already there, this just adds to it.

Look, Houston's biggest problem is offensive line, and key offensive players (Carr included). To draft a DE #1 is a bit baffling.

As far as the saints? I'd trade it. They could get a kings ransom for it, since no one was expecting Bush to fall to #2....since they have a decent RB, they can look at big offers. ...like 2 #1's and a #2 or something.

Just look at the way T.O., Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis, and alot of other pros have been treated...

I agree with you...they are rewarding criminals and misconduct.

the dumbass texans have outdone themselves yet again..... they just passed up a guy who will be 10 times better than marshall faulk for a guy who i think will struggle to reach double digit sack numbers....mario williams aint no julius peppers

ok, so now do the Saints trade their pick? or take Bush?

if they are smart they trade duce macallister for a 2nd round pick and draft reggie bush....if they are smarter the trade the pick to my beloved VIKINGS for a 7th round pick and Brand Johnson :D

i think he will get drafted....probably late in the second day....or maybee the raiders will make him a first round pick

I dont get this move, Ok obviously you want defense but the rest of the league is dieing to have bush so why not draft him and then trade him for a defense.

Teams are not willing to pay the money Bush would be asking/forced to get. That could be the reason why the Saints will pass on him, if they do.

You're right, Williams is better. As a freshman in 2003, Williams made an immediate impact. For the year he tallied 56 tackles, 13 for loss, and five sacks. He was named to everyone’s Freshman All American lists. As a sophomore, his numbers were almost identical. He finished with 57 tackles, 15 for loss, and six sacks. Williams upped his output for the season finishing with 62 tackles, 24 for loss, and 14.5 sacks.

Okay, lets get this out of the way first. I am a Texans fan.

Initally, I was really upset with the selection...I mean, its Reggie Bush, you dont pass on that. But then I started to think about it, the Texans offense really isnt that bad. Year after year, we have been mid pack as far as rankings go. Nothing spectacular, but it was always the defense that let us down. I saw some interesting statistic a few weeks ago, said something to the degree of - Texans have either led or been tied in 7 or 8 (Cant remember) games last season. So we did have a chance to win. With the addition of Kubiak as head coach (Coming from Denver...where 1000 yard journeymen rushers come and go), Davis will have a huge year as a rusher. Eric Moulds and Andre Johnson will combine to be an excellent tandum, not to mention we brought in underrated TE Jeb Putzier, a new center from GB (Mike Flanagan), and Mike Sherman is the line coach. Put it this way, David Carr will be sacked...its inevitable, BUT we will be much much better.

As for the pick, Williams has been compared to Julius Peppers and Dwight Freeney as far as talent and abilites go. The Texans are switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense that relies heavily on quick DE...Williams fits the mold perfectly. So, yes, Reggie Bush is a hell of a player. But for the money he wanted, and the fact that he wouldnt touch the football on a consistant basis, he can go elsewhere. Word out of Houston is that with the 1st pick in the 2nd round, they are targeting Winson Justice (Probably will be gone) or Eric Winston out of Miami.

So the Texans will get their OT and DE, and to be honest, we really DONT need Reggie Bush. Im actually looking forward to what the Texans do, and this is not as big of a disaster as people are playing it out to be.

i don't think it's that bad of a pick either. man some of you guys really hype up bush like he's the greatest thing ever. he has a long way to go before he's proven. we can stand here and make fun of the top picks all we want, but we all know that teams aren't decided by their top picks. in fact, top picks have a history of doing jack squat, while the biggest names in the nfl usually come around the middle to later rounds. why shouldn't the saints pick vernon davis? brees needs someone that is "gates-like".

Considering that the Texans have Dominick Davis (Damn good RB) I can see why they didn't take Bush...BUT if they wanted defense why draft someone who has just as much to prove as Reggie Bush. Why not trade your pick for SEVERAL good defensive players (or several draft picks). I could see the Saints possibly passing on him too...they have McAllister coming back and they need a good TE.

I would use the pick to get Bush as leverage to fill as many spots as possible if I were one of the crap teams in the NFL...he's not going to come in an save a franchise and win Superbowls by himself. I can't get over how the Texans just passed up the pick though. They kinda screwed themselves by not taking advantage of their draft position...

Lets get a few things straight here.

First, defensive tackles are better prepared to play in the NFL than QB's and RB's. Their position is lets say, "less" vital than the position Bush is going to play in.

Second, why didn't they trade their pick? Well, here is why. They were in contact with about five teams about a possible trade of the pick but none of the teams wanted to give up good players and none of those teams wanted to pay Bush what he was guaranteed to get.

Third, the Saints did pick Bush and I do not know why. Possibly, they did it just to trade him for some good players the Saints lack.

Fourth, and last, like I mentioned, the teams in the lower portion of the draft do not want to pay Bush the money he is getting and second, the Saints would have required any team to give up a player or two vital to their teams. Besides, the Texans, like I mentioned on the other Bush thread, need defense more than offense based on their stats.

/\ They don't wanna pay Bush the big pay day, but they give 56 million/6 years to a player that won't be putting points on the board. Its awful hard to win with a goose egg up there (and a RB that only scored twice all season). How much was Bush wanting anyways?

Its not that they didn't want to pay him, the Texans specifically, the other teams the Texans were negotiating with for a trade didn't want it due to their caps. Sure, Williams won't be putting points on the board, but he will prevent them from going on the board. Besides, the Texans need more help on defense than on offense. Dominick Davis isn't the reason why they were awful.
