Safari/Any Webkit Browser

Recommended Posts

I notice that from time to time, websites that have multiple images will fail to load in Safari. I would have to reload the page once, or sometimes multiple times for everything to load up properly. This happens a lot with Myspace, and now, it's annoying me with Google Maps. Take a look:

Is this a known bug? I've Googled it for quite awhile, I have tried multiple tweaks for Safari. I've tried Shiira. I've even tried Safari Nightlies. They all produce the same behavior. I'm running a 2nd gen Mac Mini (G4) with 1 GB of memory.

It's usually server congestion. Nothing you can do about it. Sometimes I browse Google Maps in Opera and several parts of the map refuse to draw until, say, 20 seconds later.

As for your location, it seems Google Maps did map it, as seen below:

No error messages popped up in the JS console, by the way.

(after posting I realized I was in the Mac section. But I think this problem isn't browser specific.)

Thanks for all of your replies. I still wasn't convinced that it's a network issue. Occasionally, even while browsing these very forums, images just won't show. I may go through a few posts down in a thread, and someone mentions an image that may have been in the first one. And I would never know it. When Safari evenually times out, I'll see the little blue question mark that's a place holder for images. When I take a look at the activity window, it will show that the action was canceled. Now, reloading usually gets all the images to load, though, sometimes it may take more than one refreshing. If I goto the same thread (or site) using Firefox, Camino, or Opera, they load quickly and without these issues.

In general, it just seems that the loading of images is extremely slow in Safari.
