even though I do prefer to have real ones for some weird reason.

It's not a weird reason. It's consumerist conditioning, that's all... We all suffer from it to some extent...

Shame someone would bother to pay so much for a shirt that does nothing more than display some pseudo status. A real shame.

Fake, buttons are naff and you mentioned poor stiching.

If you got it from eBay, then that would be doubtfull that it is not fake.

Here, read, if the seller purchased it new and just didn't wear it and didn't wash it, they could easily go get a refund.

Those big companies don't like their fashion labels being sold anywhere but in genuine shops that fit their criteria.

It's like buying Gucci handbags in Tesco rather than Harrods. It gives their goods a chav like culture.

it's not like the seller is selling it because he doesn't want it or doesn't fit, it's more like he's selling it for wholesale in which he gets large batches of authentic overstock, possibly from the philippines at where its so cheap....

Yeah, I am with you on that. :)

Had to add, me also, rather spend ?40 on a rugger shirt that lasts 40 washes, than some rip-off from a market stool, that fades away and starts shrinking after 3 washes for ?10.

lol I guess I just don't understand...I saw a person at work today that was wearing a Ralph Lauren Polo and I thought of this thread lol

It's the feeling that you own something that is quality, and that it will last for quite some time. I prefer original than pirated.

does anyone have any idea where a polo of a suggested manufacturer's retail price of $52.50 would be sold? i know that the ones from US are set at $65, but another one that i got off ebay has a tag of 52.50 and i noticed that (them both being M), this one is a lil bit smaller... but they're both made in philippines, so where could it be from?

The black paper doesn't look very legit...

But everything else is okay. but the buttons, i don't know about that...

I have a lot of Lactose, Polo, Ben Sherman, Gucci, shirts, and some come in those plasic bags.

i got the EXACT same shirt on ebay and one of the reasons I bought it was because I saw the black paper. The newer polos at stores have those black tags so I felt that it was authentic. My buttons were fine and I compared it with my other polos (which arn't from ebay or the internet) and all of them have "RN 41381" on the back of the tag. Also the bottom tag is on the same spot as my other polo shirts with very similar wording.

Also, saying 99% of ebay stuff is fake is something that is NOT proven. Saying a shirt is from ebay doesn't mean it's automatically fake, it's only that person's guess without any basis of evidence.

/me heads towards nearest airport with international flights to phillipines

oh, and by the way, RL polo's are so-o-o-o-o-o 5 years ago, but for mowing the grass in style; o. k.

*bumps old topic*

i just ordered some from ebay and they came back from the phillipines too. i compared them to my store bought American Polos.

these are the differences ive noticed

the biggest one is that the button holes are ACTUAL holes instead of slits like on the US ones.

the logo on the chest seems slightly more to the right when looking @The shirt(left when wearing)

the wash instruction tag doesnt fit "tumble dry low and steam iron" on ONE side like the american one does.

u have to turn it over to see steam iron or w/e it says.

and lastly the shirt just feels a lot thinner in general. more cheap.
