If You're Going to Say Sony Stole the Controller..

Recommended Posts

maybe they meant joysticks on a gamepad... since almost all consoles use some form of a gamepad...

Well, just off the top of my head, the Intellivision had a gamepad. Probably other systems too.

How can people say Nintendo invented joysticks? They were around way before Nintendo...

Its not so much they invented it, but they implemented it into their controller in a successful way I suppose.

ah, im annoyed that no1 has come up with the idea of not copying each other, but instead creating tehre own individual controller which will actually seperate the big 3 and get rid of EA and there mass porting!

Innovation in 3 seperate ways, thats what i want to see, not - HD/HD with tilt/motion sensing & tilt

So how would you explain the lack of vibration support in their controllers? Hmm...

That's old news, and I very much doubt that Sony will make the PS3 without Dual Shock.

Yes. People forget how much Nintendo has given us

  • Light guns
  • Dance mats
  • Joysticks
  • Rumble
  • Shoulder buttons
  • Gyroscope technology implemented into games
  • (if the rumors are true) Accellorometer technology implemented into games
  • Mario!!!

And I'm not a Nintendo fanboy.

Which at the same time were ripoffs of other, not so commonly known, companies products.

Yea but all of a sudden Sony decides to put this in... AH well I see this failing big time. There is no feedback which EVERYONE has gotten acustom too. Sony just dug a hole with this one.

They are just ripoffs of ripoffs, which at the same time will be copied by other companies, and so on.

None of the big names at the industry are original, they just get things little companies made and plant ther nametag on them.

Put blunt is ****` me off as its not the fact theyve so much as stole the technology from Nintendo, but that theyve thrown this in as a desperate attempt after being scared ****less by what Ninty has thrown out there.

Basically so the general public who have bought a Wii will see this and go "Oh my PS3 can do it too" the sad thing is there,ll be in for a shock when they see just how limited it is.

Exactly, people fail to realize there is a world of a difference between Nintendo's Wii innovation and Sony's PS3 tilt after-thought.

Sony PS3 Controller = 6 degrees of freedom... this has been tried and failed almost a decade ago.

Nintendo Wii Controller = 360 degrees of freedom... unprecedented, I really can't see it failing.

What do you mean "you doubt"? Sony announced the PS3 controller will not have rumble support.

Who cares if Sony stole the controller idea. Companies steal ideas from each other all the time. If it makes their product better then more power to them, if you don't like it don't buy the product.

Nintendo has a clear direction whereas Sony is just slapping features on.

I agree. What you said is 100% true.

They failed miserably to redesign the controller, so they just add some tilting feature to the old controller and say they have worked so hard. At least, that's that way I see it.

No thanks, I think I'll be having more fun playing Kirby Tilt n' Tumble for my GameBoy Color.

Lets not forget of the 3 main ideas from Nintendo, that Sony stole...

- The D Pad, all be it in a slightly different design...

- The Analogue Stick in a controller...

- The name 'PlayStation'

Nintendo turned down the partership with SONY, they got what they deserve. SONY should steal all they ideas they can from Nintendo, then market them and become victorious.

Vengance is sweet.

let's not forget about

1.jpg

im NOT bashing sony in anyway.. but at lot these days seem to be theories ontop of theories, and i loved PS2 when it first came out.. a lot of people still play PS2, and sells amazingly well in Japan still... but does sony come up with anything fresh?

their online feature, it's like xbox live.

the motion controller, nintendos new controller..

the hard drive, xbox1 and xbox360

2 different versions, one with slimmed down features, one with all, microsoft did that..

sony is like an all in one console.. unless they do something huge, sony won't be making PS4.

Did you know that at one point Sega considered the name 'GameCube' to be used for the Dreamcast?

Did you know that you didn't post a source and that the Dreamcast isn't even a cube? And that based on your past comments in this thread you don't deserve to be believed?

The modern D-Pad, and the analogue thumbstick (since people get joysticks confused with the big things) are both Nintendo innovations. The Playstation name is Sony's, don't be a jackass about that; Nintendo did screw them over, but MGS3-SS (I can tell what system you like just by reading your name!) it doesn't give them the right to steal things. Are you saying that if I legally end a contract with someone, they have the legal right to come into my house and take things?

-Anthony: The reason that an all in one console is not a good thing is because everything is half assed. If you expect to pay $600 for a console that does every one of it's features as well as a standalone unit, good look finding it. The thing is that the PS3 will have be a half-assed Blu-Ray player, with a half thought out controller (it's even missing rumble damnitt). The same goes for the 360, it's a ****ty DVD player, yet it has a very well thought out controller ;). Nintendo is going for the standalone thing though, deciding just to focus on games.

Two long posts in two threads... break time.
