i'm glad the crappy time I had there in 2003 paved the way for your nice room and internet connection. The only thing we had were calls that took 2 hours to get through via MILSAT through our THSDN. I take it you're 74B? I was 31F I think it's 25F now. Anyway, glad it's easier over there now. Tents in 168 egrees wasn't fun...

I don't have an internet connection in my room. I am a network administrator, so I use the one at work, which is where I am 15 hours a day.

Trust me, you had internet connections out here in 2003, because our unit was one of the first across the LOI to bring it out here. My unit was the first to set up a Windows NT 4.0 domain running Exchange 5.5 in a warzone. We were also the first to succesfully transition a network from NT4.0 to 2003 server and Exchange 2003. The military doesn't talk without us(the geek squad) anymore.

It doesn't get 168 degrees out here, not sure whether you were just trying to make yourself sound hard or not but it does get to around 135 in the summer months.

The one thing that improved by leaps and bounds since 2003 other than the living quarters, is the chow halls. The Army pays for everything we have out here now, as soon as they started making their way onto Marine Corps Air stations, stuff like this started popping up, and they are still expanding! Last time I was out here, we did stay in tents. Our tents had holes. Holy tents during the Iraqi rainy season is no fun either, because the mud gets deep enough to swallow your foot, and it gets down to around 30 degrees with a nice, cold drip. As far as making calls that took two hours to get through, they had Iridium phones even in 2003.

We don't name the bases by number, I'm on Al Taqaddum Air Base. Most of the bases we are using, even the fobs, and farps have a local name, so we just use those.

I would though, like to thank you for the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice that you gave to be out here, paving the way for the rest of us.

It came from officemax about 2 years ago. I actually dislike it.....its been modified to fit my style. It had a 2nd level for monitors and a printer but I got rid of it as I didn't like how high up it put the monitor.

Plus I added a slide out tray for the cpu so I could get complete access to it.

@Micky, how did you get the Train Timetable to show up, I'm guessing it's a screensaver?

You goto http://grofsoft.com/tdb/index.html

Download the program, install it, then it will download all the timetables from the cityrail website, then all you have to do is select what line or lines if you got more then 1 screen u want to see :)
