Mugwump00 Posted July 10, 2006 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Ronny, I've replaced the aero.msstyles but when I try to invoke the theme I get "The visual styles could not be applied. Unspecified error" I am running 5456. I have managed to replace uxtheme.dll with the one supplied. Anyone any thoughts? Then youll be able to change the permissions. Right click the file Properties Security Tab Advanced Owner Tab Edit Then select the user from the list that you want to give ownership to. Then you will probably still have to give your self permissions too. Right click the file Properties Security Tab Advanced Edit Edit Then tick the check boxes. Ecat, hope you don’t mind. Go to “Security”. Click the “advance” button. Go to “auditing”. Click “edit”. Then click “add”. Add the user you want to have the permission. Give full permission. Click ok. And ok, again in the next box. Then go to “owner”. Click “edit”. If your user is in the list, select it and click “apply. If not, add the user. Then you can go to the “permission”, and click edit. Add user……….like before. Some files don’t require all the steps. But I think you need this in this case. There is a lot of Protection in Vista. If you are not familiar with that, then take a look at this page.
