Elliot B.
they will want to protect copyrighted movie with this monitor but in the other hand, it will cost more compared to other normal monitor. Nobody is going to buy it hehe (Y) I will if I am guaranteed quality (reviews etc.) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/473739-microsoft-launching-a-vista-tft-monitor/page/3/#findComment-587648570 Share on other sites
Malisk
It never ceases to amaze me how many "educated" people here say they hate DRM yet are gonna scoop this monitor up as soon as its available. Sad. Huh? Why would one do this? If you don't use DRM content (I don't), why would you, of all monitors available, purchase this specific one as soon as it's out? The one reason I can see is that it's built by Samsung, so probably pretty good. But if you want a big Samsung screen, you can go out and get one today if you don't care about DRM junk. Who're stupid enough to watch HD-DVD's of all things on a TFT and not output it to a TV anyway? The high resolution is most useful on 40"+ screens anyway, and hardly on a 22" widescreen. :pinch: If you're going to sell out to the MPAA, go purchase a new HD-ready TV, a graphics card with HDCP output (if they're out already I don't know and I don't care), and be done with it. Vista has been designed to look best when using a widescreen display Where and how? The desktop hold no major design changes adapted for WS. Well, there's the space consuming side bar that's the first thing one turn off if that's what they're talking about, but come on... Vista has been designed for widescreen? God I hate rubbish like this. Matt T
If ###### has a glass bezel, like the windows in Vista, it would look fantastic. Smigit
It never ceases to amaze me how many "educated" people here say they hate DRM yet are gonna scoop this monitor up as soon as its available. Sad. Well I wont get this one but I am getting a HDCP monitor. I duno if your aiming your response any anyone in particular but considering I'm one of the ones that said whats the problem I will openly confess that I actually dont have an issue with DRM. Cant speak for everyone but it's never caused me grief. That said yes, theres always 2 sides to every coin and nor do I need informing of them since I've read the discussion in abundance. For me DRM is a good technology that unfortunatly can be used badly (but not always...although I will conceive many times its down right frustrating for some). In a monitor DRM does seem a bit stupid. But being the type of person that doesnt like updating monitors I would rather just get a HDCP compatible one now and if/when it becomes the norm I will be safe instead of having to buy a digital crack box or a new display. Really it's just playing it safe. Again, that can go either way since the more purchases will encourage their uptake. But not being into piracy again it hopefully wont hurt me.
