Nokia PC Suite Equivalent?

Recommended Posts

Greetings.

Almost a year ago, I got a Nokia 6101 cell phone, which supposedly has Bluetooth integrated. Unfortunately, Mac OS X 10.4 doesn't detect the phone (even with bluetooth reception on) for use with iSync. When I looked at Nokia's site for the proper software, it only listed "Nokia PC Suite", which obviously only works for Windows. Does anyone know of an equivalent program that I can use in Mac OS X in order to connect phones like the 6101? It's because I've found some interesting themes I like to upload to the phone and I like to transfer any pictures to the Mac.

Thanks in advance.

You can still use the 'Send File...' feature (click on the bluetooth logo in the menu bar) to send files to some phones that won't work with iSync. I've sent files to my Nokia N80 this way even though it won't sync my contacts.

I created an Automator workflow so that I can right click on files & send them to my phone via bluetooth.

(Uses this action along with a couple of others if you're interested)

Maybe you could do the same?

Not sure about syncing your address book though? I did mine by syncing my Nokia 6680 (as it's recognised by iSync) & then syncing that phone to the N80 via bluetooth

Where abouts did you find these interesting themes? The 6101 is a Series 40 phone so those themes would work on mine.

You need a cable for that, roadwarrior. And as for you, FOOOD, I was unable to send any files to the cell phone via your method, even though a Nokia 3650 was listed (none really were detected).

I couldn't add it to iSync, but I could add it as a bluetooth device 'Set up Bluetooth Device' from the BT icon in the menu bar.

It's not on the iSync compatible list yet, so I can't add it to iSync & sync the contacts & calendar. But I can send files to & from the phone/Mac with BT File Exchange, browse the phone etc.

webgraph - make sure you're turning on discovery mode in bluetooth on the phone, or it won't find it for anything

Discovery mode? What the heck is that and how would I turn it on for the 6101?

On my Nokias the Bluetooth things are both in the Connectivity folder. Once Bluetooth is selected the 'My phone's visibility' should be set to 'Shown to all'.

It should be pretty similar on yours

(And make sure Discoverable to checked in the bluetooth menu bar items of your Mac)

Wait a minute. The Connectivity section only shows "Infrarouge" (Infrared) and "Donn?es paquets" (Packets received). No wonder why Bluetooth doesn't work! Who knows. Maybe I'll get that DataPilot program as they provide the required cables for such transfers. Or is there an infrared program for the Mac?
