Cristiano Ronaldo wants Spanish move

Recommended Posts

Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo claims he will leave Manchester United for either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Ronaldo said on Saturday night he felt his club let him down by failing to support him through fierce criticism which followed United team-mate Wayne Rooney's sending off in the quarter-final between Portugal and England.

"My agent will meet with the Manchester United chief executive (David Gill)," said Ronaldo. "I've said in the past my desire is to play in Spain. Will it be Real Madrid or Barcelona? They are two clubs I like and it will be one of them."

He added: "For some time I haven't had any support from my chief executive or my coach (Sir Alex Ferguson). They should have come out in my defence but no-one did.

"I am calm, I know I have done a good job and I've grown a lot in this World Cup, from a physical point of view and a mental one. In the next few seasons I will be even better."

Yea, these rumors have been going around for a while now. I think he was waiting for the elections before planning/hoping to move to Real Madrid.

I was really happy that he was coming to the premier league after euro 2002 but to be honest I don't care anymore, he is a great footballer but has lost most of his credit in my eyes after such blatent and continual cheating. I'm sure he'll do well wherever he goes as long as he gets rid of his bad traits.

He did cause a fuss over the rooney challenge, but it's just the usual english press thing of looking for a scapegoat rather than accepting that we played like a sunday league team for most of the world cup, or is that an insult to sunday league teams? :p

The thing with Ronaldo is that he is a one trick pony who does alot of stepovers then fall over when the ball is taken away from him, i really don't rate him besides he can't be that good as Lee Naylor of Wolves kept him in his pocket when Wolves played Man UTD awhile back. :D

Ive got to admit Ronaldo had SOME part to play in geting Rooney sent off but at the end of the day Rooney shouldn't have shoved him which is what got him sent off NOT the so called studs into the knackers. Overall ive never liked Ronaldo anyway. I'll be very surprised if he starts the season with Man UTD by the way he is talking it seems he made the decision not to play in England next season before the world cup.

Yes, C. Ronaldo dives a lot, really a lot, yes, he's childish but why all this hate towards him? Was he the one who smashed R. Carvalho guts? Was he the one who pushed another player? Was he the one who gave red card to Rooney?

Why a hate-site against him? Why all the vandalism on his house? What a shame to England, it's ridiculous and shameful to act like that.

England league looses a great player, Spanish league gains a great player.

I ask that everyone keep this discussion on topic, once again. Any further posts of hatred websites against the player will result in warnings being handed out.

What is so hard to understand? This thread is about him wanting to go to Spain, not about the World Cup, and not about smashing cars and windows and posting websites about hating him.

Come on people, grow up

He demanded that the referee give Rooney the red card, that shows what a great sportsman he is. Rooney didnt even commit the foul against him, he just barged in with his demand.

About the head butt you love to bring up every now and then (this thread and the one that was closed), Zidane is a great player with great temperment. We still dont know the other side of the story. Even though what he did was wrong (and he paid the price for that), if there was really some verbal bashing by his italian opponent, then I can understant why he did that. Any human can lose temper and its not unnatural at all if one is really pushed hard!

I agree...its real stupidity on part of many english fans. Just let it go. These acts are as shameful as Ronaldo himself.

England league looses a great player, Spanish league gains a great player.

Hes great in two ways - solo runs and faking. Dont think English league is losing anything if Ronaldo is out of Man UTD. There are many great young players that English league would love to watch.

It's not about the England match... most people have moved on from that. Some people won't let go but, like with most things, they should be ignored. Rooney was wrong - even though he was fouled and provoked he shouldn't have pushed Ronadlo so the red card was understandable. The reason why I criticise him is because after that match he was diving in every other game without any contact and was actually leaping to the ground to claim fouls - it wasn't like they were minor taps... there was absolutely no contact and he was diving. I disliked him from previous tournaments I'd seen him play - it's just his behaviour this tournament has been even worse. I'm not saying I hate him but I can understand why people would - he is the type of player that is ruining the sport. BTW, I'm not denying that he has talent.

I am glad that he is moving - I do not want to see such a poor sportsman playing for an English club. If Spain likes that sort of player then they can have him.

I dont believe it, all this hate is obviously from that match.

That might have been the start of it for this tournament but he barely did anything in that match... he just had a big mouth. His behaviour in the following matches was completely disgusting. If you want to keep blaming the England fans then go ahead but there is no denying that he dives and that he doesn't play fairly.

I still dont believe it, i saw the english reactions after that match, they didnt react like that before the match, they hate him because of what he did to Rooney, not because his dives. And yes, he dives a lot but he will grow up.

It's frustrating to see everyone calling us cheaters and divers because of one player, Italy dives a lot more than us, even France dive as much as us.

I don't mean to go off topic but it wasn't just one player - others, including Figo, contributed to the poor reputation of Portugal. I'm am not saying your team are cheaters - just the conduct of some of the players was unacceptable. Our team has a poor reputation thanks for Rooney, our typically troublesome fans (not so bad this year) and our generally poor/lacklustre performance. France has a damaged reputation thanks to Zidane, though admittedly his typically excellent conduct makes it all the more unusual. Brazil's reputation was damaged because of the poor fitness of Ronaldo.

Everyone picks faults with other teams. I accept that Rooney is a hot-headed thug. You seem to accept that Ronaldo is a diving punk. We both know that those players don't represent the team as a whole, so I don't think we're actually disagreeing. I accept that some of our fans can go over-the-top and still blame Ronaldo for Rooney's booking, whilst you must accept that some Portuguese fans have been provoking English fans on the forum and gloating that your team got further. I don't have a problem with Portugal or their team, just some of their players - I hope you don't have a problem with our team or England as a whole.

I appologise if I came across as disliking Portugal.

Good football player when he wants to be, but to me he comes across quite smug. Sometimes he will start a match on the bench, then he come on and be pretty good.

If he starts a match then i find he's a pain in the ass to everyone including his teams mates. Maybe he should go to spain where there are bigger egos and then maybe he be knocked down to earth abit

Figo dives as much as any player, he rarely dives... the only person who really dives a lot is C. Ronaldo.

It's amazing to see what a unprofessional, biased, poor media can do to human minds, yes, im talking about English media.

I was actually referring to his infamous head-butt.

Our tabloids are a disgrace, much like any other country, but I don't see what that has to do with anything. I don't see why you feel to compelled to attack England at every opportunity. I'm not going to discuss this with you any further.
