b mitchell
Then it will be a huge blow to the gaming industry and the gaming fanbase. no. and remember folks, with was the big players, Sony, Nintendo, MS that caused this. Berto
I'm just thinking what the smaller game publishers are going to do from now on. The big 3 have the resources to pull of their own events but what about everyone else that shows what they got at E3? Are they all going to be overshadowed by the giants and disappear like the dodo? Also, just thinking about individual shows by the giants here. Are publishers like EA, Ubisoft etc...going to showcase their games per company show? What about their expenses to set up per company's showcases. Would we be having individual reviews per console for Madden, Splinter Cell and all those juicy titles we have grown to gobble up year after year? If we apply the old school rule that "If it ain't broke, why fix it" then we can continue with the E3 madness that creeps up on gamers and non-gamers alike each end of May. And on a side note here, bring back the real girls of E3 while we are at it. fascist
What was the point of doing this. How would it benift anyone at all? I guess we can only hope someone picks up the slack and creates something exactly like E3. pyehac
So, will there be thousands of "smaller E3s" around the country, instead of one huge party? I hope someone will make a similar event like E3. Andre
Good riddance! Maybe game develoeprs will start working on games instead of hyping the crap out of them thoughout the whole year towards the E3. I say, down with E3! If its cancelled what will the magazines talk about for a month ? About the actual games, maybe? I totally agree with your statement.... and maybe actually get to where magazines will have "exclusives" once again I hate to be a...."word i can't say probablly" but in reality I think the problem with E^3 was the focusing on hype, overshadowing the games and releases/tech/systems (per say, that the focus at e3 is to be the games, but adding the crap:....anotherwords, the booze, boobs, and excessive loud music need to go in lue of leading back to E^3's roots...but also open to public, etc... yes the chicks were nice, let alone people in costumes(i'll take Master Chief myself :shiftyninja: ) but were they really needed to get the product looked at?....if so, then the product sucks, and should be put where it belongs-the stripclubs, and after evening parties if companies want to throw their "parties" then they should put them in another building (sure LA has plenty of empty buildings....), lowering costs for E^3 it's self, and enabling it to be used to full potential, lowered cost of security, cleanup, electricity... am I making any sense? Bhav
It's a big loss, but Europe and Asia should get their fair share of gaming attention. So Leipzig and TGS will hopefully house bigger and better announcements and demonstrations in future. thecowgoesmoo207
I think it's probably a good thing :) Like many have said, it's the games that matter more than the event. But, this will definitely make way for either an old event to expand to pick up the slack or a totally new event to the likes we've never seen. The problem with losing E3 is that developers did often rely on it to hype their releases, which occasionally paid off and made their games successful enough to give them the ability to do what they do best and make more games. Sure, some games will still be successful without E3 but it'll be a lot harder for promising games with lower budgets to shine without beefy ad budgets or promotions now. Still, judging by how brands/buisnesses tend to operate we'll have another (better) take on E3 soon that will likely incorporate everything E3 had and then some. My guess is Microsoft will have something to do with it - they're always watching for these oppurtunities. Danrarbc
This is a very bad thing. E3 grew into something that wasn't just about showing games off to the press (that's what it was originally started to do though). E3 has been a major source of excitement within the industry and a great place to get a handle on how you're doing compared to everyone else. oddcrap
So, will there be thousands of "smaller E3s" around the country, instead of one huge party? I hope someone will make a similar event like E3. Consider that a no, unless a major vendor like ATI or Intel comes along and wants to take the whole financial burden. That's what this all comes down to in my opinion = $$. Quillz
Well, it's sad to see the loss of E3 as we know it, but this won't actually personally affect me. Besides, it may spur the major gaming companies to hold more private press conferences more often, so we get information about new games and systems faster. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/483159-e3-to-be-downsized/page/2/#findComment-587748748 Share on other sites
