serverman
Ok, see the attached screenshot. It's how my network is set up. My question is, how does my Web Server know which Internet connection to use? Since both NICs have Internet, is there any easy way for me to select "Don't use this NIC for Internet, only file sharing"? Thanks! +BudMan MVC Posted August 25, 2006 MVC Share Posted August 25, 2006 IF you do not want your webserver to use the .1.2 interface to access the internet, remove the gateway entry from that interface.. Without a gateway, it will only use that interface if talking to a machine on the same network, ie 192.168.1.x/24 To control which one it uses, you could also set the metric.. if you make the metric on the .0 network lower than the .1 - it will use the .0 gateway to access outside networks.. Unless of course it fails, then it will use the higher metric interface. serverman
Thanks. How do I set the Metric in Win2003? By the way both routers are on DHCP right now. Should I change that? Only if your Win2003 server is also providing DHCP to both interfaces. Otherwise, no problem at all. +BudMan MVC Posted August 26, 2006 MVC Share Posted August 26, 2006 What is your F1 key broken too? Yeah, I know its a lot of work to hit F1 and type metric.. Here edit: that would be visio to create he network diagram Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/489842-two-nics-help/#findComment-587821271 Share on other sites
