Landshark77
Man... honestly... these annoucements are like ###### on a bull. USELESS. I would be pretty pi55ed if I drove all the way there only to see "updates" and not "upgrades" (You know what I mean). Quactaur
The movies just aren't worth it. Considering the costs of physical are gone, they should be far cheaper or offer far more. I'd rather get the progressive, widescreen, multiformat, unrestricted, feature packed, subtitled, multi languaged, physical media that is DVD. Itunes 7 sounds great though. TruckWEB
NEAR DVD quality at 640x480. That's not even widescreen. Dolby Suround, that's not the same as Dolby Digital so no 5.1 sound. All this and no new iPod Video...?? And at 15$ (even 10$ for older movie) it's just a tad less than real DVD in stores. It would take just a little bit time to extract and convert to iPod with better quality and you still enjoy the full DVD for your home theater. I guess i'll keep my 5G iPod for another year... or until january 2007! :shifty: Edited September 12, 2006 by TruckWEB Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/491875-apple-event-on-september-12th/page/10/#findComment-587876404 Share on other sites

Chicane-UK Veteran Posted September 12, 2006 Veteran Share Posted September 12, 2006 If you were desperate to watch a movie and didn't want to wait to buy it cheap online (and wait for postage) and didn't want to go and pay over the odds in the shops, then yeah.. you might buy one or two.. but I certainly wouldn't build up a collection based on it! tronmaster
You have to remember that the prices of both the music and movies are dictated by the movie and music industry. Apple has some leeway such as the .99 USD per song title. However, the RIAA, doesn't like this model at all and has been fighting Apple for an increase in prices. Probably, the movie industry is doing the same to Apple. Disney and the other studios (that are owned by Disney). Probably thought of a higher price point. But since Steve Jobs is part of Disney now, he was able to persuade these low prices. However, since no other movie company is on board, it strongly seems that the movie studios wanted a higher price. So be glad they are selling at these prices.
