Apple Refreshes Entire iPod Lineup

Recommended Posts

Not when you can pick up the 30Gb for 172.

My 30Gb 5th gen arrived the other day...****ed or what? Then again, I don't even use it for video.

Can games be played on the 5th gen or is it only on this newer 6th gen?

Apple did not announce the 6G mainline iPods, just upgrades to the 5G. With a firmware upgrade, last year's mainline and the new mainline iPods are the same (in software). The only new features are a bigger hard drive on the top end, higher capacity batteries, and a brighter screen.

Im not terribly happy

I've got a 60gb 5G iPod.

I dont get any upgrades - I have to PAY for the "upgrade" to a new iPod.

Shame Apple. Shame.

Edit : Read that using iTunes 7 will upgrade my iPod. I'm okay with that now.

What is this new iTV thing? Anyone got any pics?

iTV is just the codename. Do a search here or go to engadget they have some info on it there. Basically looks like a Mac Mini but not as tall and there is no external power connector. Composite, Component, Optical, HDMI, Ethernet connections. Suppsto be released at $299 USD I belive.

Ah, I saw this on the Neowin homepage and it confused me:

The gadget - which has the working name of iTV, but shouldn't be confused with the UK's first-ever commercial broadcaster - is apparently scheduled to ship in Q1 2007, when it will cost $299. It resembles an iPod mini, but looked to be one-third the size of that device.

At least that clears it up. Neowin must of made an error on the front page.

Yeah, I pointed the error out a minute after it was posted...but they still haven't corrected it.

I have a 10 GB 3rd Gen iPod that I absolutely love. I was hoping for a 10 GB Nano, but an 8 GB will do since all of the songs that I have on my 10 GB will fit on the Nano. What's stopping me is the price when I consider the cost difference between the Nano and the 30 GB model :(

Seems like a easy choice to me, you can pay $31 per GB of storage or pay $8.3. Then again spring for the 80GB model and you only pay $4.36 a gigabyte. Is the longer battery life and smaller size worth it for the nano?

It is corrected now. Just for future reference, if there is an error, send an email to the author, do not post it in the comments. News posters do not always read the comments and chances are much higher that if you send an email the error will be corrected faster.

So I got the new iPod, and this might sound weird but I find the screen too bright when set to high  ...the games though look amazing, I can't believe the graphics are this good.

Pictures please? :D

Im not so sure about that new shuffle. Maybe it'll grow on me in person, but it seems a bit radical of a design change. Is the belt clip permanent?

Others look good, although personally I was more of a fan of the nano impersonating the looks of the larger iPods than the older iPod minis.

Still, Im sure the black and silver nanos are a beaut in person!
