a-d-i-d-a-S
There are (i think) 2 reasons as to why windows does that on start-up 1. because you deleted a file you should'nt of had or 2. because a virus had set itself to startup every time and windows cant find it when it boots, i had that problem when i had a virus years back and i just did a fresh install of xp. WastedJoker
Look for any unusual Windows Services (Start | Run | services.msc then Enter) then use a startup manager (find a nice one here - http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml) and look for anything you do not recognise in all the tabs. Alternatively, download Hijackthis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis) run a Scan then post the contents of the log here and someone will look over the results for you. Or, you could try any of the following online virus scanners: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html Also try installing and running SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/) - install it, run through the initial Wizard and then download latest definitions and run a scan.
