nekrosoft13
The only quality ones I can find on store shelves are usually Verbatim, manufactured by Mitsubishi CC. well thats not totally true you can't find reall MCC media in USA. in USA you will find Made in Taiwan Verbatim, which are made by either CMC or Prodisc, they are made with MCC standards and guidelines. or made in India verbatim, which is made by Moser Baer. Verbatim made by Moser Baer, CMC or Prodisc all use MCC codes, but they are not reall MCC. Dmitry71
This info is not quite correct. I am sure there are a few other companies capable of producing 16X. All you have to have to produce 16X is the right combination of dye+stamper, which is now possible to obtain for any manufacturer. Production lines are the same as 4X and 8X. A couple of manufacturers that are not small either are Infodisc (Infomedia) and Optodisc. nekrosoft13
man, nekro has really done his research on blank media...lol interesting though... you have to if you want to end up with good media memorex, probably 80-90% of time is some sort of Ritek media. after Ritek G05 media, i will never buy another ritek dvd. G05 dye was horrible, i had to reburn over 60-70 dvds, because those G05 were starting to fail after 2 years. some i wasn't able to recover. never gonna trust them again. about the whole Verbatim DVD if DVD serial number on the inner ring starts with PAPA (very hard to see), then that DVD was made by CMC, following MCC strick guidelines. if DVD serial number has a long string of numbers and in middle there is - or + then its made by prodisc, following MCC strick guidelines. and if its made in India its Moser Baer. funny thing is when CMC and prodisc makes media for other companies (fuji, tdk, memorex, hp, bla bla etc..) those media quailty is much lower. edit, almost forgot, in europe and asia, you can find Verbatim made in Japan, those are Taiyo Yuden, these are the highest quality. Taiyo Yuden 8X actually with a good burner (Plextor, BenQ) can be burned at 16x, result will end up better then most other 16x media. GO TAIYO!!! nekrosoft13
Taiyo Yuden is the best you can buy Taiyo Yuden online, but becareful, there are conterfeit Taiyo too, buy only from reliable sources you can also find Taiyo in retail stores under these brands (Fuji (made in japan), Panasonic (made of japan), Sony (made in japan, not all of them), Verbatim (made in japan, europe and asia)) second best would be Verbatim Made in Taiwan, (CMC [PAPA in serial number], and prodisc made), and Maxel made in japan. thats all that matter to me ;) Moser Baer made Verbatim are vary, quite a bit, you can get decent or bad media keep in mind you buy other media lets say HP, TDK, and the media ID is some sort of CMC, this CMC media won't match the media that CMC makes for Verbatim.
