Yes, the site is back up, but there is the lack of the My Xbox section, the Live ID area in the top banner for you to sign in, and the forums are also down. If you type in the forum address, it will redirect you to the Xbox home page.

LOL looks like I've met a Huge Microsoft Defender!

My Bad for Criticizing MS!!!

Im not a defender of anything, , sick of being labeled something just because i have a differing view, all you have done is moan and complain, Microsoft doesnt owe you anything, wow its been down for a day, how many days has your internet connection been broken in the past......

Ill bet you don't even subscribe to the Gold account.

Look, A LOT of people are saying the exact same thing as I am! Just goto MajorNelson.com and take a LOOK at all the Negative comments there!!!

I DO NOT just moan & Complain, I think I've Fairly given Microsoft 24 hours they said would take, now it's about 10 hours beyond I think every person have a RIGHT to complain about this sort of service!

Demanding LESS is just not getting Xbox 360 becoming the Best Console system

Yes you do moan and complain, so its run a bit into the next day, who cares, not everything goes off with such precision, there might have been unforeseen problems that cropped up after the work was completed, switch your xbox off and go outside and enjoy life if all you have to complain about is xbox live being offline for a bit longer than they stated.

I mean, this is MICROSOFT, After all!!

Rich & King of Softwares!!!

If there is ANY company that deal with software better, I expected it would be Microsoft, and look they are Struggling here !!!

A lot of people will tell you Smaller companies even done better!

If it's another smaller company I would be more understanding, but MICROSOFT with these kind of troubles?

These NEW features on My Xbox Better be somewhat Jaw-Dropping to be like this, seriously!!

JediXAngel: Please, close your mouth and stop showing your ignorance.

You pay for Xbox Live, not Xbox.com. Xbox Live was up in the 24 hours that Microsoft promised. You do not pay for Xbox.com directly, so please calm down and go do something more productive. Obviously there was a problem with the My Xbox part of the upgrade and they are still working on it. Your beloved 'AWESOME NEW FEATURES' will probably be there when it comes back up. Relax.

Please, name me one smaller company that hosts and runs a service as large, complex and popular as Xbox.com/Xbox Live? ... Didn't think so.

Now, please, shut up.

That's almost as flawed as the logic that with the mass amounts of profit that Blizzard makes, their scheduled maintenance for World of Warcraft should always be completed on time when implementing new features. Well, guess what? It's not. We live with it and move on. Stop crying.

Also, as magik pointed out, Xbox Live is up and that's the only part you pay for. Don't moan just because you can't look at your achievements online.

It's worth noting that you also get the day's downtime re-added to your Gold account, so, you haven't lost out on anything.

That's NOT really what I am mad about. It's MS's way of handling this & silly promises not met I am not happy about...

Anyway I will reserve further complaining... until what I see the NEW features are really like.

Is this one of them? http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/1876/xboxlivenewjz1.jpg

JediX, as long as I can remember on here, everytime some company announces something and you flip out expecting some big features and then bitch and bitch because you are disappointed. I've seen you do this like over 10 times now.

Seriously, go outside, breathe,g et some composure and forget about Xbox Live Marketplace, there are seriously a lot of better things to do.

Newsflash:

We?re back! (Almost)

Xbox.com is back and we?re sure glad to see you! My Xbox and Forums will be back in about 24 hours, but in the meantime there?s a lot you can check out on Xbox.com.

At Xbox, keeping your family safe has always been a top priority. Providing a safe, secure environment and age-appropriate content for all consumers has been a part of the Xbox? story from the very beginning and it?s a responsibility we continue to take very seriously.

When My Xbox comes back up, there?ll be a much more robust Family Settings that will enable parents or guardians to decide what sort of online communication and content is right for their child. Kids will be able to have their own accounts on My Xbox, but the Family Settings give the parents or guardians complete control over who their child interacts with in any way on Xbox Live.

It?s all part of our ongoing effort to create and build in safety measures that enable parents and caregivers to choose the right play and viewing settings for their family.

This fall Microsoft, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Best Buy Co., Inc. will launch a campaign to inform parents about the Family Settings feature in the Xbox 360? console and introduce other resources to help parents and caregivers protect their children. The name of the campaign is ?Safety is no game. Is your family set?? in reference to the Xbox 360 Family Settings, and you can read more about it here.

As for the m aintenance that?s ongoing, we know you've got more questions, so here are some answers:

Q: Is this a Dashboard update?

A: Nope.

Q: So what's going to happen exactly? What's it going to look like for me?

A: The vast majority of Xbox.com is fully functional. However, if you try to connect to My Xbox on Xbox.com, you will see a "Page Not Available " page. If you hit the Forums, you?ll be redirected to the home page. Don't freak. It's not your account, your computer, your browser, or your ISP. It's us.

Q: What the heck am I going to do if I can't troll the forums ?

A: We're glad you asked. Aside from reading all the great articles on Xbox.com, here?s a few other things to do while we update our My Xbox service:

1. Make your holiday wish list. HD DVD anyone? How about the Wireless Headset and Wireless Racing Wheel? How about that cool new Zune thingamagig and the cool accessories to go with it? Don't forget Gears of War?, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent?, andViva Pi?ata!

2. Go shopping! We've had a boatload of great games and accessories release in the last few weeks. Check outLEGO? Star Wars II?: The Original Trilogy, Xbox Live Vision Camera, Test Drive? Unlimited, and lots of other great stuff. Make your local retailer very happy.

3. Boost your gamerscore. Get gaming and impress your friends.

4. Bust out your original Xbox. There are still awesome games coming out for Xbox?. In fact Destroy All Humans!? 2 just came out. That's pretty good timing.

5. Nominate a friend for the Gamer Spotlight. Drop TriXie a line at xlmail@microsoft.com and tell her who you think needs some attention on Xbox.com.

6. Check out TriXie?s blog from Milan. TriXie is in Italy for the World Cyber Games Finals, so watch out for her updates and be sure to check out what she had for breakfast.

7. Listen to our Artist of the Month. Get yourself the latest CD from Augustana.

8. Visit Gamer Dad. He?s our new personality and a must read for all parents.

9. Get ready for Zune. Go see what our friends are up to at zuneinsider.com .

10. Where in the world is Major Nelson? He?s out and about somewhere. Major, please phone home.

There you go, stop complaining about how long it's going to be - they tell you.

What was in the update except for the new parental controls? I'm on and nothing seems different.

bleh, that's so lame if all this update did was implement new parental controls. I'm sure parent gamers would be very happy with this but meh for the rest of us. :p

It not just parental controls, it's what the controls let you do: kids that weren't able to make xbox.com accounts because of age now can. It's good stuff for a lot of people. In the grand scheme of XBL, it's cool, but if you restrict that to those of us on this forum, then it's not a big deal. You have to look at the bigger picture.
