Must be in a hurry to get this junk out the door in January, or else they would put the "SP1" stuff to use and incorporate it in the initial release of this so-so product. Oh microsoft............... Clete2
It isn't even out yet and they are talking about SP1. Why exactly does Geekster say he can't wait? That's a horrible thing. >< Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/504743-windows-vista-post-release-project-in-the-works/#findComment-587969262 Share on other sites

+mram Subscriber² Posted October 19, 2006 Subscriber² Share Posted October 19, 2006 I heard it from an official source that Geekster is easily manipulated. Hey Geekster. Windows Vista will have a second service pack. It will come after the first service pack. It will be called "Windows Vista" with some kind of indicication that it's the second service pack. True story. Quote me. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/504743-windows-vista-post-release-project-in-the-works/#findComment-587969940 Share on other sites
Brandon Live Veteran Posted October 20, 2006 Veteran Share Posted October 20, 2006 Of course at a really high level people are thinking about SP1. Obviously some teams are done with Vista before others, and it makes sense for them to start thinking about what they're working on next. "Vista + 1" simply refers to the Windows release that comes after Vista (not an SP). Long
Source = Geekster. I can not reveal where I get some of my information, that... would be telling. ;) People like you make the enthusiast community seperated like the wealth between rich and poor. You don't have to act all superior with internal information. Instead of crediting yourself, you should credit the people who told you your information or the people who actually work on Windows. You're not the source, "Source = Microsoft employee", don't be selfish. TheNay
I heard about this too, I think it was mentioned on AeroXP. It wouldn't surprise me as updates will be out for consumers at Vista launch. And 8 months later a SP (usually in the summer/fall) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/504743-windows-vista-post-release-project-in-the-works/#findComment-587970347 Share on other sites

P!P
I don't really see the news. The employee could be a janitor for all we know. Microsoft has already talked SP1 for Vista for a while now. Microsoft has already talked SP1 for Vista for a while now. As I said above - there is no news. Everybody knows there will be a Vista SP1 - and I'm pretty sure we've said it will be a normal service pack (ie. no new features). Also everybody knows that there will be another version of Windows after Vista (ie. "Vista + 1"). Symphony
Geekster, maybe you have a nice source, but don't ever try questioning Brandon. He is closer to the pot than you think ;) As for the "news": a fact: a Microsoft employee writes a line to his EFI handling code, removes another line, and plans to show it to his boss in december. "news": Microsoft is changing the EFI engine, testing starts in december. I'm not questioning your source, but the more data streams the bits are travelling, the bigger the chance of a data loss or a data change. Keep this in mind when "hearing things" ;) PS: Inquier version: Ballmer directed the developers, developers, developers... to drasticly change BIOS handling in Vista: every 2nd end-user have to buy a new motherboard? :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/504743-windows-vista-post-release-project-in-the-works/#findComment-587970933 Share on other sites
