ooh nice... I just dled Fedora core 6 DVD too.... but nm I will get the Ubuntu DVD and give them both a try now

DVD is here http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/6.10/release/

i'm going to get the i386 DVD by torrent

Also I think Fedora uses kernel 2.6.18 and Ubuntu uses 2.6.17, Fedora uses FF2 and Ubuntu uses 1.5.0.7 and I think AIGLX is enabled by default on Fedora

I'm trying to download the 64 version now myself, I had tried to install 6.0 and all I had was problems. going to try again with 6.10. I'm currently using Mandriva ONE, not satisfied though. Friend told me about Ubuntu.

The truth is Edgy Eft does use Firefox 2 , and AiGLX is enabled by default so installing Beryl is quite simple in Edgy.

Ok cool :) The information I gave was wrong, FF2 is on Ubuntu and 1.5.0.7 is on Fedora. I just dbl checked on Distrowatch lol

Beryl sounds interesting, i've used XGL before and was quite impressed but not as much as with Aero.

Also appears Beryl is Quinn Storms Compiz with a new name... coool! :)

I am a little disappointed though from reading the initial forum post by the one of the Beryl devs and subsequent posts. Why can't they just put Beryl into compiz git and work with the original coder who developed it all. I'm sure they had good reasons though.
