Brodel
Manchester United are attempting to negotiate a two-week trial for American teenager Freddy Adu in November. The club initially rejected reports that the 17-year-old striker, who plays Major League Soccer for DC United, would visit Old Trafford. However, it has now emerged that negotiations are under way... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/6131062.stm What are peoples opinions on this guy? To be honest, I've heard a lot about him and seen bits here and there but never an entire match or anything to really see how good he is for a whole game rather than clips. Shibby
Hmm Man Utd would mould him pretty well. And the prem is a great learning ground. MagicMan
I'm a Man Utd fan but I think that if he does leave DC, he'll end up at Chelsea. They'll just chuck a bucket of money his way and that will be it. Same thing happened with John Obi Mikel, he (or his agent) decided that Chelsea would pay more and it was a no brainer. At 17 though, Manchester United (and Sir Alex) would definitely be the best decision football (soccer for you americans :-o) wise - but I think the Chelsea pound signs will work again. Hes rubbish and very weak for english league. And you are basing this on...........? Weak - hes 17. His strength will come. There are plenty of players who do very well in the English leagues that aren't particularly big. Shaun Wright-Phillips for one, Aaron Lennon, Jermain Defoe etc...... Yea, I agree that united would be a better place for him... to be honest I think Arsenal would be best if he has pace, Wenger is a genius when it comes to youth team and he'd be learning from people like Henry and the rest of the Arsenal squad which would be priceless. If he does go to Chelsea though, he will probably end up playing on loan to some team in the championship like Jimmy Smith is playing for QPR (tipped to be the next Lampard apparently). Des429
i think he'll fit in well. he wont be a super star, but he'll fit in. and he surely wont get the attention that he gets from the announcers when he plays in the mls. No other place than Manchester United :p David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, all started their career when they were young at the club, and look where they are now. Shibby
West ham would also be a good place to go, but they are in spots of trouble and tend to stick to home grown talent rather then overseas. So many clubs that would make him a star. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/510803-man-utd-confirm-interest-in-adu/#findComment-588041315 Share on other sites

Powa
I've heard good things about him for years now, but like many others I've not seen much of him playing. But if he moves to England, I hope it's for Manchester United.
