There are tons of topics out there on the internets about how to make your xp to look like vista.

but almost nothing on how to make vista look like xp.

without debating how good/bad is vista and it's interface i just want to know, is it possible and how to make folders in vista appear as much similar as possible to folders in xp.

thank you so much for any replies.

I for one totally agree with Bush, in about 2 years i suppose im going to have to go and start using Vista. From what ive seen in Beta's the interface is just so diferent, im gonna want my XP layout back for sure.

Im also confused as to why you would call it a downgrade as i personally see the vista interface as a downgrade!

Only at Neowin.....

How can one simple question spawn so many stupid replies. I get where dude is going. I think Vista's default folder icons look ridiculously garish. In fact, the OS 'kinda reminds me of a Ford Pinto with spinners on it but eh.....that's just one man's opinion. I don't have an answer but I hope you find one!

If you want Vista to look like XP, use XP
I guess you're living proof that you don't have to take a test of any sort to become a subscriber at Neowin. ;)

It is entirely possible that someone *might* want certain features Vista has to offer (enhanced security, a search feature that actually works) but not be down with some of the UI.....ahem....."enhancements."

Obviously if you change your OS there will be minor differences, but what's the point in changing, then going to all the hassle to make the latest version look like an old version of windows. Seems to totally defeat the object to me.

If you people would by an OS because it looks different then I don't know what to say. Got a Blue for and a Red Ferrari, how woul dbe wanting to make a Ferrari blue be downgrading. Whilst I lik ethe vista layout, if he doesn't then that is his choise but the layout isn't the only new aspect in vista.

So, we change the OS because we want a new look and change the look back? Fine

There's a LOT more new stuff than "a new look". The cosmetic stuff is just what you see. If you upgrade your OS for a new look (to "impress people"?) then you really shouldn't even be upgrading.
