Anyone load this user page:

https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showuser=17398

Warning!, the Worm detection found on my system as been found in HIS sig picture!

I can't find a problem with that user.

We will be investigating this. As far as I know, it hasn't happened to a staffer yet but something will be done regardless (assuming it is within our control, of course).

Enjoy my stay. I've been here over two years....

Sorry, in the future I'll shut my mouth, and let the site mess with you.

That's not what I meant. What I meant was that when you report a post, you're much more likely to get the mods' attention, which would be prompt to report any issues to an admin, when required. By just posting a thread, it's possible that they'll miss it.

We simply don't do pop-ups. I'll send yet another mail to our advertiser asking them if they enabled this in our profile.

In fact, it was not a pop-up... there is no pop-up... it is simply a re-direct...

EDIT: I have disabled javascript on neowin.net as so far I don't get any more any re-direct...

This problem still persists also from the main neowin page:

right now my browser is redirected to this page

Just disable Javascript on neowin.net and see if it still happens....

I was reading the article on the front page about the Apple secuirty fix, and all of a sudden the page changed to this.

Why dont you get some proper ads that dont intrude like that? It's pathetic.

All these sites contain FAKE ROGUE security programs because they're SPYWARE/TROJANS/MALWARE!!!

I'm shocked the problem is still not fixed, this issue is very serious! PLEASE STOP ALL THE BANNERS because neowin.net became a vector for malware installation!

right now a new malware attempt comes with this: http:// www. winantivirus .com/pages/scanner/index.php?ax=1&ex=1&ed=2&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]&aid=valuable&lid=sw7

Franzon, calm down. Neowin knows what the sites are and they are working to figure out exactly what the problems are. Many people are not experienceing this, like me, and only those who regularly visit this specific forum are probably the ones we know about. I can tell you right now that Neowin will not remove the banners because they bring in revenue that is needed, and not all of the banners are redirecting. The advertising company has most likely been swiftly kicked in the butt every 15 minutes for the past day to get it fixed, and it shall soon pass. You don't need to get so frustrated over this. As a workaround I suggest disabling javascript until the Admins/Mods post in here saying that they have fixed the problem. It is not that big of a deal. If it isn't fixed in the next couple of days though, then start getting angry. But I don't feel that your attitude is quite deserved by the mods or this community.

malware installation attempt continues:

Is it so difficult for you to remove all the banners? It's a work takes less than 5 minutes...

Do you care about your visitors? Do you know this is not just advertising? but it's a malware installation attempt!!! The browser is redirected to another page and an installation attempt is made using a javascript dialog box. It's a serious issue you're ignoring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Franzon, please DISABLE Javaascript! And report back if the problem still persist...

To continue to complain will not resolve the issue. Business is business and site admin have not much control on their site (apparently)... so ... just disable Javascript and all banners and crap will go away as well as revenues for neowin!!

Cheers,

PLEASE, DON'T SAY "DISABLE JAVASCRIPT"!!!! DISABLING OR ENABLING JAVASCRIPT IS NOT THE PROBLEM!!!

THE PROBLEM IS THAT NEOWIN.NET IS A VECTOR FOR MALWARE INSTALLATION AND ALL THE VISITORS OF THIS SITE POTENTIALLY ARE EXPOSED.

Kid your attitude sucks.

You need to learn some manners.

[is it so difficult for you to remove all the banners? It's a work takes less than 5 minutes...

We don't have direct control over individual ads.

We have complained to our advertising supplier (as I am sure other sites have as well). We now wait for our advertising vendor to respond to our complaint.

This topic is now closed to further replies.
