+M2Ys4U Subscriber¹ Posted December 13, 2006 Subscriber¹ Share Posted December 13, 2006 Hi all, can anyone help me with this problem? "Module Panic ! Module Panic on Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 SP7! You are running Windows XP Professional SP2 (locale 1033) + IE7 Parent and/or Prerequisite item missing?" i already have the earlier version of AP installed before(Aug) before installing this version. Also i got the IE7 and MS Office 2007 installed before installing this version(Nov) of AP too. Anyone have any idea of how to solve this problem? Thank you If you're using the Nov Full release, delete your old install before using this. If you're using the update, you must have all of the updates in between August and November Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/517714-autopatcher-xp-november-2006/page/5/#findComment-588134705 Share on other sites

showergel
I was looking at the Windows Server 2003 SP2 RC2 patchlist and found a few things that apply to Windows XP SP2. Perhaps they would be useful to add to Autopatcher Dec/Jan. (recommended) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913296/ Jet 4.0 data engine update fixes issues that may occur on a Windows XP-based computer - Fixes errors with languages not originally supported in Jet 4.0 (recommended) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896427/ After you install security update 885250 (MS05-011), you may not be able to view the contents of a subfolder on a network share by using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 - Fixes missing files & paths from server service shares. (recommended) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899271/ The updated USB Video Class (UVC) driver for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 is available - Adds DV rendering to stream DV from PC to device & MPEG2TS capture (recommended) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913538/ A WMI enumerator object is canceled before the client computer can finish using the enumerator object on a Windows Server 2003-based or Windows XP-based client computer - When a WMI enumerator object is cloned internally, the object is cancelled before the object can be used. There are TONS of other relevant hotfixes that have no official release yet but should be made final as SP3 for XP and SP2 for 2003 get closer... And that brings me back to my un-answered question here: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...amp;p=588112461 I remember you guys said that once the problematic-at-first SP2 was out, you still supported SP1 for some period of time...what's with WIE7/WMP11 ? I really don't want to install a browser that's said to break a slew of working things on my PC, and I don't really need a new and bloated media player when I already use much slimmer 3rd-party solutions. However, I DO want all the updates to my installed IE6/WMP10, just to be safe in case some program tries to exploit them - will AP Nov06+ releases still update IE6/WMP10 if user choses not to install their successors ? supermouse
PsiMoon314: The security updates for .NET Framework 2 do not always install on the first run with APXP. I suspect this is because on clean systems without .NET Framework 2 already installed, they are run before .Net Framework 3 is installed. i'm testing it. i id an pre-release with december updates and i've removed .net 2. also ap indexes releases by his own release date, i've moved that to .net 3 (so, if you select to install .net 3, it should install that 2 security updates for .net 2 just after .net 3, that may do the thing happends fine). so far, it will runs on my test machines only. maxkohl: > will AP Nov06+ releases still update IE6/WMP10 if user choses not to install their successors ? that can be done. i did it on my beta builds. i was thinking something about updates for msie7 just be showed for msie7 and msie6 updates not showed if you already have msie7. the same thing to wmp10, but i was unable to do it right (i've always got some errors). so, i've let it behind. there's another issue regarding it too: size. ap is becoming fat and it will only do an diet when sp3 arrive (that should be in 2008/2009). more fat, more bandwith... anyway, it's easy do an "home made" version with that includes that sort of updates. you just need grab that removed updates from a previews version, put that on his original places and compile it again. the hard thing becomes just add the new updates for that Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/517714-autopatcher-xp-november-2006/page/5/#findComment-588135913 Share on other sites

PsiMoon314
Hi, xyz123, ms already had announce that sp3 will not arrive in 2007. so, you just may expect that for 2008 or later. but of course, ms can change his plans again and again... I very much doubt that any new service packs will be released for Windows XP. At best you may get a hotfix rollup for XP SP2 at some point. They may surprise us by releasing some tools for XP from Vista but that will only help the take up of new features on Vista, not to extend the life of Windows XP. MS will be concentrating their efforts on Windows Vista for the next few months and maybe years so little time and effort will be expended on XP now. Windows XP will become the "Windows 2000" of Windows family very quickly. I predict the first Service Pack for Windows Vista in Q4 2007 or Q1 2008. MS may stop shipping new copies of Windows XP before then. showergel
Windows XP will become the "Windows 2000" of Windows family very quickly. I predict the first Service Pack for Windows Vista in Q4 2007 or Q1 2008. MS may stop shipping new copies of Windows XP before then. Kind Regards Simon IIRC, Windows XP originally had 5-year support commitment. It debuted October 25, 2001. Five years after that it was supposed to go into a long-term support mode for an additional 2 years, then 3 more years before product support gets pulled. Obviously that plan didn't work out and I don't recall how MS said they were going to support XP once Vista gets out. I senese XP becoming a "scapegoat" for Vista adoption-- all those technologies slated for Vista that were said to be backported to XP may never see the light of day (WinFS, et al if they ever are released). MS will probably end support for XP where it sees fit as long as a dollar is to be made; they'll Win2K it or worse. I also was watching some of the video blogs from the project leaders of Vista. They suggested Vista may never have a "Service Pack" as we're accostomed to it (Updates & New Features). Vista's installation contains the minimum to get itself running on a PC and connected to the internet. This way vendors can send WHQLed drivers to MS via Microsoft Update; one consolidated place for all software & hardware updates. I hypothesize somewhere around the 2 year mark MS will do a SRP for Vista and re-RTM the OS for vendors (see XP Gold, XPSP1/a, XPSP2) - probably around the same time when Longhorn Server is introduced. I also believe MS will offer new technolgies for Vista progressively over the years and not bind those releases to the introduction of a Service Pack - as in Windows Firewall 2 in SP2. Just my two cents. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/517714-autopatcher-xp-november-2006/page/5/#findComment-588138322 Share on other sites
leandro m.
don't know if is the correct topic to ask this question, sorry if i post in the wrong place, i'm new in autopatcher but i need some help. i've just re-format my system and try to install the lite release of november/06 that i've downloaded, but i got this message after the autopatcher load the modules 'Module Panic on Windows Update v6 You are running Windows XP Professional Edition (Portuguese -- locale 1046) + IE6 Are you sure you downloaded the right release' i don't get it. The FAQ on the autopatcher.com says that it will load on any windows version, showing only the included items (modules) witch match the running environment i think that the core updates, like the securities update would match. there's anything i can do to load the modules ? i can't download another version cause i'm on a 56k dial-up connection now. thanks in advance. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/517714-autopatcher-xp-november-2006/page/5/#findComment-588140580 Share on other sites
+M2Ys4U Subscriber¹ Posted December 16, 2006 Subscriber¹ Share Posted December 16, 2006 I'm afraid that although the AutoPatcher program will load on any locale of Windows, the specific releases are geared towards specific locales, in this case you've most probably downloaded an English release and it will, therefore, not work. supermouse
leandro m., i'm sorry pal, but there's no any official build for portuguese at this month. for brazilian portuguese, there's the mine, but it's unofficial. by the way: if you have downloaded this version because of that description at superdownloads, forget about it. they don't have any clue about they are typing. an english release is intented to work in english versions of windows xp only. the same thing happends to other releases. yes, you can change locale to 1046 and it may work, but don't do it. you will do a great mess in your system. tip: ask to a friend that have broadband download it for you or go to any cyber. it may helps. MS may stop shipping new copies of Windows XP before then.....Simon I agree with your analogy of XP becoming the next W2k. If MS decides to put off a service pack 3 for XP until sometime in 2008, and with mainstream support for XP expected to terminate in early 2009, then MS will probably decide not to issue a SP3 and do a "last minute / last rites" rollup update exactlyas they did with W2k. It's just not going to be a priority to issue a major service pack for XP. The difference being that service packs contain many, many more hotfixes and features which go through heavy quality control, where as a hotfix rollup contains much fewer patches and is minimalistic in nature, both quantity and quality. With the proximity of the expected SP3 release to date of termination mainstream support.... well... I wouldn't hold my breath for a SP3. cme4pc
I thought they already confirmed that they were doing one? Depends on what your definition of "confirmed" is. Yes, there are people at Microsoft working (as in mentally conceptualization and gathering of published hotfixes, etc.) on a SP3, and MS has let it be known that with all the hotfixes, patches, and other goodies released since the rollout of SP2, that it would seem logical to put together a SP3. However, they did EXACTLY the same thing as the sun set on Win2k mainstream support; promised a service pack, released a rollup update and told everyone to migrate to WinServer 2003 if you "really" want to make things better and "oh btw... we don't support win2k anymore" It just doesn't make since from the viewpoint of corporate profit to expend valuable time and human resources in 2008 on a product, Win XP, you have slated for termination in 2009. It especially doesn't make since when you have a new and improved Vista package that is more secure, more bang for the consumer buck, and is rapidly gaining market / installed base in 2008. Another mode of thinking with the lords of MS is that with the monthly releases of patches and fixes through MS update, why release any service packs at all? The delivery of critical security, important patches and new features through the update site, be they for XP or Vista should be more than sufficient for end user support. They believe that publishing Service Packs is simply duplication of effort after mainstreaming most fixes through automatic updates. I'd be surprised if there are ANY more Service Packs from MS, period.
