AutoPatcher XP November 2006

Recommended Posts

Personally, I'm not too worried. Sure, MS SAID they were going to terminate XP support in early '09, but when has microsoft EVER been on time or even on target with a release of any sort? My prediction is we will see the SP3, mainly because just as the case was with W2k, folks and businesses won't just drop what they're doing and shell out tons of money for the new OS. They will do what they ALWAYS have done -change over incrimentally. Microsoft won't just abandon them until they know they have MOST of them (and we aren't talking US market, but WORLD market) changed over to Vista before putting the last nail in the lid of the XP coffin.

For my part, I'll be running XP for another couple of years at least (hell, I've still got a box that runs 24/7 under W2K -and only now am looking at changing it to XP. The other machines run XP-pro. And I'm not even bothering with Vista until the inevitable SP1 release. Let others dig out the bugs and related uh, undocumented features.

hi blaze, I asked twice in this thread to no avail - will nov/dec release take care of ie6/wmp10 updates in the event I choose not to install the controversial ie7/wmp11?

thanks for your great work!

IE6 updates are still included and will be for a while yet, i understand that a lot of people will hold off on installing IE7 just as they did with XP SP2. WMP10 updates are no longer included, WMP10 has been completely replaced with WMP11 in AutoPatcher. i do however have a separate XP WMP10 'addon' pack, if people want it...

quick update on the dec06 release, last night things took a little longer than expected, i'm uploading the new releases as i speak, although my internet connection has been playing up today. as long as my connection stays up, we will either go public tonight (if enough mirrors) or tomorrow.
