akaladis Veteran Posted November 26, 2002 Veteran Share Posted November 26, 2002 Hello all, Could someone please make a guide on creating a crossover UTP cable? I'll probably have to make one, but my only experience is through diagrams and such things. Does anyone have any photos of the procedure? Thanks in advance! deimos
crossover cables are like $5 at circuit city....its not worth the time to make one ;) unless you need an especially long one or something (longer than what they sell in stores), just buy one :p Ive made regular cat5 cables when i needed like 300 ft of it :)

Mamluk
I had made this when i was studying for my Cisco stuff. Its kind of Dummied down but makes it easier to remember. The only thing to remember with a Cross over cable is that one end is the regular patch end and the second end is the cross over end. Also when your looking at cabling it should go from left to right then attach the rj-45 head with the clip away from you then crimp.
