Transport Tycoon - OpenTTD

Do you all buy the maximum amount of carragies (example coals, woods, passengers) for as long as your train station is? or maybe just 1 head carriage + 2 or 3 goods?

I tend to buy a few trucks, then see if anything is left over at the station after the train has been loaded. If there is, add more trucks, if there isn't, it's fine.

It's free :)

What i do is always the maximum length if possible on a train station and depending on how large/how far the maximum length of the train.. but i always liked 2 shorter trains better than 1 larger..

i cant get it working(TTDX), i install it, and when i go to play it is says something about a COM3 not being open so i need to get this sorted before actually getting the OpenTTDX on my pc.

theres also hardly any files in the install directory.

I dont think those links are legal. They are posted based on the fact that this game is no longer available (and its not worth Microposes effort to chase it up). I think the original is freeware now but not transport tycoon deluxe.

just install Open source thingie and you're done. That worked with me.

Sweet! i knew in the original Transport tycoon if you build transport tracks against each other you could get the distance to travel very low but the pay for the long distance!

Example (because im not clear): Build a bus station, then build a trainstation against it(that becomes the same name)now delete the bus station and build it to the side you want to expand to. (that becomes the same name as the train station) now delete the train station and build a bus station against it and so forth and so on. That was a nice exploit :) pity that it doesnt work anymore.

Do u players use train as the mode of transport even for nearby industries? coal to coal station

i do.. except with goods because goods need to go to city's and city's also like normal people transport. so you can use them for both without stupid signalling :p,

Also to get a bigger city make the roads of the city yourself and keep the city blocks small and have busses in the city so that it will improve city growth.

ok ive got problems lol

i installed then Open Source version 0.4.8 and i unchecked the "copy game graphics" box, and clicked next and installed...it failed said something about sample.cat cannot be found. so i uninstalled it, then installed TTDX and tried the OTTDX thingy again, if i check the box, and select the location, even if i do select the TTDX directory...it keeps saying "cannot find the directory" so that makes no sense. and trying to play tycoon.bat on its own brings up a port 3 error.wtf is going on!!!

ok it mysteriously works now, BUT im too tired to play, can any one give some general hints for a noob like me please =D

Trains+coal+loan at max and start building!!

Yah how you guys make yr town so big?! And transport so many people!? my statiosn always got hundreds of people! is it good to make them wait?

and ... what map size u all play ?

2024*2024 or something bigger is better ;)

I make em big by making roads in the town 3x3 squares, get an aiport there, a trainstation, few busstations in town(yes connect them). and bring GOODS to them! What i like is connecting looooots of farms-->factory + ore-->steelmakerthingi-->factory. Then make an airport against it and have lots of airplanes configured to move the goods to the city's.

Also patience helps ;)

Or the fast-forward button :p

For map size, I don't really like it when the map is too big because you don't see your competitors. Gotta have a smallish map so you're actually competing over the resources and stuff

lol... didnt notice that one :/

Yesterday my TT crashed for some reason so i uninstalled it then installed it again. But now the savegames dont load.. >_<

Awh well i started again now! :p

I have now 1 factory connected to 19 Farms. Also that same factory is connected to a steel mill that is connected to 5 ore mines.

This is what i like best about the game :D The factory gives alot of goods now :p (the total a month isnt right now, because when goods are dropped this goes up and when the're not it goes down)

it's a PNG i hope your browser supports it..

im now playing on 2024*1024 because that's when i dont get lag :s

ScreenieX13.png

i've gotta connect 4 more farms too ^^

I've seen another such a sweet spot so Excuuuzzze MeJh :p lets get building ^^

They were all naturally in this spot..
