Xbox 360 v2 : Codename Zephyr

WHAT IF Microsoft would exchange your 360 for a HDMI 360 for a small upgrade fee? What would you think of that? I just thought of the idea, and I doubt they would do this, but if they did, would you be willing to pay about the price of a 360 game to upgrade?

I wouldn't mind spending some extra money, however, I have nothing that uses HDMI so it doesn't matter too much for me. By the time I upgrade from 720p to 1080p, I'm sure more of these tv's will support 1080p via VGA.

This would be perfectly acceptable to me even though I doubt they would do it, I just want HDMI! :)

Umm..the first couple of pages in this thread throw this what if around. I seriously doubt it would happen though.

It seems like half HDTVs have VGA input. Most of the time it is called "PC Input" but when it is I check because that could mean DVI as well. If you shop with VGA in mind then you should be all good.

For those making a comparison to sony and the slim PS2. I think its a fair comparison. When the started making the slim PS2 (which included the network adapter), they near enough stopped making the add on adapters for the fat PS2. This meant that they were really hard to get hold of, and I had to pay over double the RRP to get one (before the slim PS2 they were selling for around ?17, but afterwards, I could only find them in dixons for ?35).

Seriously, I don't understand why people are so ****ed about this. We don't even know when this new revision is coming out (if it really is) and there's a chance that the old 360 will be able to do HDMI with a new cable.

Even if it turns out that MS did "screw" you, you've still been able to enjoy your 360 for however long you've had it (for me, that's a year now). If you had waited then you'd have been missing out on all the great games that have came out for 360 so far. MS can't keep anything secret for long, so I'd guess that this is a recent development and the new 360s won't be available for quite some time.

So don't be upset, it's not that big of a deal. If you really have to have v2 when it comes out, there's always plenty of people willing to pay good money for your old console on eBay. I guarantee you, though, that most people with 360s won't even care -- the chances they have an HDTV are low and the chance said HDTV supports 1080p is even lower.

Dean T. of the Mercury News just made an oops and leaked some Xbox 360 announcements Microsoft was planning on dropping next week at CES. Not only does he mention the improved Xbox 360s with 120GB hard drives and HDMI ports, he also talks about the use of the Xbox 360 as an IPTV set-top-box. The leak says Microsoft's IPTV services will have instant channel change, multiple picture-in-picture, broadcast shows, video on demand, and DVR functionality?gotta use those 120GB for more than just trailers.

Looks like these rumours are getting stronger...

We managed to get some exclusive High-Resolution pictures for x-scene of a 'Zephyr' prototype with the HDMI port. No, it's no retail Xbox360, it's a prototype board ... but Microsoft had to design a new scaler chip named 'HANA' (replacing the (analog-only?) 'ANA' chip found in current retail and dev Xboxes), I doubt they'll do that effort for nothing. You will also notice several other changes to the motherboard.

Exactly. People who keep saying that they "are glad they waited" don't even know if there is anything worth waiting for yet. At most we know that sometime within the next year (or so) xbox 360's will start coming w/ processors that run cooler.

I've never had my xbox 360 over heat and I live in a very hot climate with poor in-door cooling.

That is of course bull****. You don't miss out on the great games at all. In fact, you can buy them whenever you want. I just recently got a 360 and I have been catching up on all the great games.

sure... just like last year when most people was playing CoD2 on XBL, try to find a decent match now days to play CoD2?

I'm so glad I never got that 79 VW Beetle and I waited till this year to get one with airbags, CD Player and A/C...

Well then, you're in luck! Apparently, we all have time to re-read the same suggestion over and over again! (Y)

Don't be such a douche.

sorry, I have like 20-30 mins now for computer usage, and i'm not going to spend it reading an 8 page thread full of people who are bitching because MS is doing the same thing any other company does with changing technology. everyone in this thread complaining are being douchebags as well. When buying any technology (even consoles) it's expected for things to change, even if it's just a cable.

Hell, I bought a 60gb ipod 5 and as soon as i couldn't return it, the 80gb 5.5 came with a better screen, 2 games and it was the exact same price. Did I freak out and vow to never purchase another product from apple? The damn thing cost just as much as my 360. No, I didn't complain, rather, I realized I purchased technology and it is expected to change. End of story.

Using logic and common sense is not allowed in this thread.

Please leave now

this is a redundant thread and goes to show that pretty much no one here knows anything about this.

if any of these alleged changes materialize and have an effect on the 360's primary reason to exist, i.e playing games, than it's MS that are wrong and in breach of their implied promises.

if there's no effect on game quality and speed, then i don't care. i don't use HDMI, i don't find that my system gets too hot and the HD is enough for me coz i think Video Marketplace isn't working properly yet and i can do without it anyways. so there.

To anyone with the hd-dvd unit, or those that have tvs that can only do 1080p via hdmi, the lead is a vital component and I would even deem it a feature. MS stated that on launch they went with component as market trends indicated technology penetration. Now that situation has changed, and speaking for myself the only interest I have in the revision is hdmi capability, I am waiting to hear if it will be supported on the old console.

The original NeoGeoCD had a 1x speed cd rom drive, which was later updated to 2x in some regions. This would improve loading times significantly; was that a feature or merely a convenience?

well i guess i sorta believe it now... i was reading the first 10 pages of this thread since morning and just skipped to here. The video above looks very convincing.

Im sure it said Input DVI-D on the monitor. Its a Sony one similar to the one I have.

Still not convinced even with the video... why would he STILL have the build date blacked out... i know its a stretch but isnt it possible that these guys modded their xbox to have hdmi output???... who knows.. either way i am convinced MS is not going to release an xbox with a 2nd output.... if they do release a 2nd sku or updated version.. its going to be 1 output for composite/component/hdmi.. just doesnt make sense to add a 2nd... how else can they make money if they dont sell the access to go with it/

Why do i keep doubting they are gonna release an updated 360 - They sold/Shipped 10.4 Million Xbox 360's, so a great deal of the market is saturated.

So how many are gonna buy another 360 for an HDMI port. There can't be a ton of people waiting THAT long to buy an Xbox.

They don't want people to buy it just for HDMI, they are simply adding features to make it more appealing to new customers. I'm sure most of the people that have Xbox360s don't even have TVs with HDMI, probably about half of my friends with xbox360s still only have SD TV's. I thought there wasn't huge picture difference anyways.
