mattrobs
I just acquired the beloved Helvetica family and on Windows, well, look for yourself: It looks horrible at small sizes. Is it just Windows? How does it look on Mac?
0 Echilon
I know Safari does some pretty impressive anti-aliasing. From the screenshot, you'd be better with Verdana.

0 mattrobs
Using Cleartweak or MS' Cleartype Tuner Powertoy, changing the amount of contrast seems to affect fonts like Tahoma and Verdana, but not Helvetica. Is the font anti-aliasing itself?
0 gaekwad2
It doesn't use/support cleartype, as can be seen by enlarging your screenshot: the antialiasing is monochrome.
