i can't install stuff..

Question

hey,

just wondering if i could get some help with a little problem i'm having. i can't install certain programs in windows XP. actually, i've ran into two that don't work so far.. cloneCD and No One Lives Forever.

i get some message saying how setup can't do it's thing.. this is weird because it worked before on windows 98 and my friend has tried installing cloneCD on his windowsxp machine and it worked.

thanks in advance. any advice would be appreciated..

btw, i've attached a pic of the error message which pops up.

thanks for responding..

actually, i've downloaded the newest version about 20 times and always the same result. plus, no one lives forever doesn't work either.. which is odd. i thought it could be a problem with security settings and the like in windows.. but i'm no expert in that area.

well, if anyone else has any info.. i'd appreciate it.

thanks..

Since you had no luck trying to install these programs after 21 times, I suggest that you go back to either Windows 98 SE or Windows 2000 Professional. That seems to be the only solution possible for you, msn! Sorry about me recommending you to sacrifice XP! :(

well.. before i did something i would regret later :), i decided to do something less drastic and reinstall windows XP instead. and oddly, cloneCD installed properly after i reinstalled windows. i still dont know why it didn't work before.. but it works now, so i'm happy.

well, thanks anyway!
