Ashiaveli
Hey, I have a 5.1 home theatre set up home and need help with speaker position. Our tv is in the corner of the room but the couches aren't directly facing it. I'm not sure where to put the speakers for best sound. I've included pics (from my phone sorry for quality). magik
I don't know what the back of the room looks like, I think that would help if you could post that. But if there is a wall directly behind each couch, then I would recommend placing the Satellite speakers in roughly the middle of each of those walls. You could also just place the speakers where you think makes the most sense and hear how they sound. The bottom line is, you have to be happy with the placement. So try out a few different spots and see what you like best. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/534323-speaker-placement-when-tv-is-a-corner/#findComment-588277196 Share on other sites
Dan~
I was looking at one diagram once and the Bass should be to the left of your TV, halfway along your room Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/534323-speaker-placement-when-tv-is-a-corner/#findComment-588284007 Share on other sites

But yea, I wouldn't put it under the Speaker there in case the vibrations distort the sound going into/out of the speaker. bangbang023 Veteran Posted February 3, 2007 Veteran Share Posted February 3, 2007 How big are the rear speakers? Here is a diagram I made for you. I would move the rear speakers (if they are large like the front) to the side of each sofa. This is a quick diagram. It's not ideal speaker placement, but your room isn't really that ideal: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/534323-speaker-placement-when-tv-is-a-corner/#findComment-588288267 Share on other sites
Ashiaveli
I have smaller rear speakers, the front ones i bought because my dog broke one so I had to get a new pair. I've played with it and am pretty happy with it at this point. For some reason my center speaker was up wayyyyyyy too load and took over the sound so that I couldn't hear background music/noise. I used MI:3, the bridge scene to calibrate and when it was done, i sat my gf down and it gave her goosebumps. EDIT: thanks for the diagram, i'm not sure if you can tell in the pic but the sub is under the FL. right now i have RR where it is in ur diagram but RL is not on that side of the room because it puts it infront of that loveseat on the right. I have it behind the loveseat's left and it seems like a good place. Joel
Ideally, you'd move the TV to the wall on its left. The corner situation doesn't make for a great viewing experience. Ashiaveli
the room really isnt big enough to do that. And hte TV is HUUUUUUUGE so it would be a pain to move and it sticks out a lot.
