Herby Posted February 2, 2007 Share Posted February 2, 2007 (edited) To help protect your computer, Microsoft Office Outlook does not allow you to receive files of certain types (such as .exe & .msi files) as attachments, because of their potential for introducing a virus into your computer. If you want to open or save blocked attachments from someone that you can trust, here's how to unblock them: Warning: Never open an attachment without a good and updated virus scanner (like Kaspersky Anti-Virus)! Unblock blocked attachment file types with OutlookTools (freeware): OutlookTools is a support and advanced settings tool for Microsoft Office Outlook. It gives you easy access to Outlook settings and allows you to change settings that are normally only possible through the registry. ? ?? ?[/ur1) Open OutlookTools and click on the "Blocked Attachments" tab (second screensho2) Select the file name extension(s) of the file type(s) that you want to unblock in Outlo3) Click on the Save button and quit OutlookTools. System Requirements: ? Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002/XP, 2003, or 2007 ? Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, 2003 Server or Vista ? Microsoft .NET Framework (detected during instalUnblock blocked attachment file types manually in the registry:is1) 1) Quit Outlook if it is running and open the Registry Editor (Start -> Run, type regedit & clic2) 2) Verify that the following registry key for your version of Outlook exists,.. if it does, go to step 3. Microsoft Outlook 2000: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Security Microsoft Outlook 2002/XP: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security Microsoft Office Outlook 2003: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security Microsoft Office Outlook 2007: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security If the registry key does not exist, create it. To create the registry key, locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ma. a. Click the Edit menu, click New, and then clib. b. Type Office and pressc. c. Click the Edit menu, click New, and then clid. d. Type 12.0 and press Enter. Note this is the correct name if you are using Outlook 2007. If you are using Outlook 2000, 2002/XP or 2003, you will have to type 9.0, 10.0 or 11.0, respece. e. Click the Edit menu, click New, and then clif. f. Type Outlook and pressg. g. Click the Edit menu, click New, and then clih. h.
