are you saying you're willing to pay $600/mo for internet access?

hehe, for that much you could almost buy the internet on dvd and get updates sent to you on a daily basis...

most people can have the money for something but still feel uneasy, right now I have the money for a car, but im uneasy and want to make sure that it'll be worth it etc. it's probably the same deal....if you were gonna blow 600 a month on internet, you would want to feel comfortable first knowing or at least thinking that it's a requirement or necessity for that amount of cash.

Before I had cable modem in my area, or even dsl for that matter, I had 56k......then boom all three service providers became available in my area about a year later. Broadband is spreading massively, so you could probably just wait for it to come to your area and save a lot of cash. Or if you're absolutely sure that you want it bad enough to spend that type of cash, you can do that too....

thats how my uncle feels... its not about the money.. well, just a small percenatage, but enough to not matter. anyways.

he looks at it this way: A T1 line is 24 phone lines put together, i'd be great to have it, but it is just 10 phone lines too much.

I've given him the idea of considering a T1 line, and he's thought about it, but not hard enough, it took me month's to get him to buy the satellite, and that was $3,000 just for the parts and installation, but i'm talking about a T1 line

I think the best idea so far is Winston's tell him i can get him a heap of stuff, and that is what i do.. sometimes, but i'll promise more stuff. :D

i doubt you find an isp that will be willing to run T1 into your place.

isps expect some technical lvl from T1 users that know how that poop works...not somebody who post on neowin asking how to get his uncle to install T1.

if you want broadband and dsl/cable not available go with 2way sattelite/microwave. it's available almost anywhere..unless you live somewher in a cave in afghanistan

Wrong. ISPs will let you setup a T1 to your house as long as the phone company is able to service your area w/ one. In fact, the largest spammer on the net, Mr. Ralsky, has a T1 to his house (do a google search on him, its quite interesting BTW). If you can get ISDN in your area they should be able to supply T1 access. Your startup costs are going to be huge since they will have to drop a cable just for you + you'll need a router and other equipment. Its a small fortune. And expect your bandwidth to be capped and monitored closely. It costs the phone companies a fortune to run this stuff.

Why not just go with 3 Meg ADSL instead? Or if not, get 512 Kbps ISDN. Super reliable and prob easier to get than a T1 for residential use. Why splurge money when you don't need to?

some people are not reading....

I already have a two way satellite installed by Earthlink, but the problem is ITS GAY Its slow when you have a home network, It laaaaaaaaags! too much and there is a stupid policy on how much bandwidth you can download every 12 hours.

And i want to have broadband real badly.... and T1 service could be installed at my house. cuz earthlink said so. and if i'm going to get an ISP it has to be by earthlink.. I don't know why  thats how my uncle is.

He is just not sure on whether it is worth having the T1 installed.

well lets see...so you've got satellite now (i didn't realize that, i thought it was just tv) which cost 3 grand to get started...and you're gonna dump that and have them run a t1 out there? and your uncle isn't sure if it's worth it?

i don't think it is...

what are the pros and cons for this whole thing? from your uncles perspective. i'm hearing things about lag and bandwidth limitations--but with a budget of 600 bucks a month (add whatever startup costs for the t1 to that), you could buy yourself pretty much whatever you wanted.

well EXCUSE ME  nowhere in your post did you say you have satelite.

i don't know about earthlink satellite service, but i do know the one they offer in my neighborhood is fast and w/o any limits.

good luck with that T1 thing  have fun configuring multiplexors, smartjacks and other stuff you have no idea about.
