Video Overlay

Question

I recently re-installed a TV card I used to use under Windows 98, but if I try to run it under TView2000 in any mode except Preview mode (meaning no video overlay), the computer freezes and I have to restart. I am running XP Pro and my video card is geforce 2 gts. The only other thing I can tell you is that when I go into the advanced properties of my display settings, all the overlay controls are dimmed out. i'm using detonator xp 21.83 drivers. any ideas on how i can use overlay without crashing? Thanks!

It depends on what kind of TV card you have. I had the same problem with mine. I have a ATI TV Wonder card and could not get it to work under XP yet never had any problems in ME or 98. It turned out that me video card ( TNT/Vanta) drivers would not let the TV card drivers run properly in XP and so I finally had to change my video card to a 3dfx Voodoo3. It solved the problem. So seeing as you have a Nvidia card yuo might want to switch cards to something elso or see if you can use the drivers that you used under an earlier version of Windows. Somehow the overlay support for any Nvidia product as of recently, will not work with any other overlay source other then their own. ( even that fails sometimes).

It sucks to have to do this, and it took me a while to decide what I should do. Even contacted both ATI and Nvidia, both of them never replied.

Anyhow hope this gives you some insight and hope it helps.

Good luck.
