Vista Aero not working

Recommended Posts

Some programs are not compatible with Aero. Do you have anything running desktop, taskbar, notification area that might be disabling Aero?

This is a fresh install, and was happening with no additional programs on there.

Aero won't work unless you have the proper updated Vista drivers, which in most case haven't been released yet. You can find drivers on sites like guru3d.com and laptopvideo2go.com, but beware they aren't official drivers and the could potentially crash your system like it did mine. But in most cases they'll do the trick. Right now I'm getting an index score of 1.0 instead of 3.8 like I did when I had the updated drivers installed.

I swear it's in the control panel. My sister's computer didn't turn on Aero when it Vista was first installed. After searching multiple times in the display settings, I found it right under my nose and I had the option to turn it on. It didn't think it perform that well on her machine but it runs flawlessly.

AMD Sempron 1.8Ghz, 512MB RAM, Ati Xpress 200, btw.

did u download vista and installed a pirated key..cause according to windows if u activate a pirated key a patch will be applied and wont let u use aero....

It's a completely legal copy, just the latest ATI drivers have a small issue with his card (Radeon X800GT). He's not the only one having this issue, see the comments in the news post about the release of the latest drivers.
