Paying ?80 to have it repaired, whilst our buddies over the pond get it for free.I don't expect the 360 to constantly die on me, but it is technology. Technology is never 100% reliable or stable. As a proud 360 owner and a wise consumer, I have my 360 set upperfectly> to ensure that there is no extrernal influence on the systems performance or stability. If it fails, it's totally hardware. I learnt (the hard way) that you should protect your investments, which is why I'm going to be taking out the 2 year extended warranty plan for ?60. You can't go wrong. Like somebody already pointed out, I bet that the failure of some of these consoles is down to the owners and their general stupidness. My friends 360 is wedged in between his PS2 and Freeview box. I did warn him. Did the UK get the same batch of Xbox360's like the US did though? Kashaar Posted February 16, 2007 Share Posted February 16, 2007 Even though some people, let's say 3%, have problems with their Xbox 360 and manage to get it repaired (under warranty), I would say they are still lucky. :yes: For instance, I bought my Xbox 360 two months ago, and it started scratching disks after two days! The bundled GOW game became unreadable. And do you know what Microsoft told me? (these are my words, still they sum up the situation very well to me:) "You moved the console during DVD/Game playback, go to hell". Hugh... I've just spent 600 to 700 Euros into your system and that is the answer I get... Thank you... :cry: I've called them many times and they just refused to do anything always accusing me of moving the console though it was not true. Hopefully the online shop accepted to reimburse me (or else I would go on using this faulty piece of crap)... I still bought another one right away! :D (Yep, despite this issue, I still love the console, but not Microsoft's attitude towards me...) The first thing I did has been to put a "DVD drive pad kit" in the console though, hoping I will avoid any disk scratching episode thanks to this. By the way, the Xbox 360 of a friends who's bought it, let's say, 6 months ago, scratched (very badly) his Kameo disk a few days ago. And I've seen many people having such problems on forums, though I agree many of them may have actually moved the unit while it was working, but it was definatly not the case in the two examples I've just given you and I guess in many I've seen in the forums. So my questions are the following: - Do you think these DVD drive issues are part of the "3 to 5%" failing unit number ? (Taking into account that the Xbox support hotline tells you "Microsoft does not cover this issue which is only due to the fact that you moved the unit" ...) - What do you think of this attitude ? We can't know for certain, but I would assume so, since the launches were less than 2 weeks apart. Even then, MS are waiving the costs in the USA for any console bought before January 1st (so that overlaps the europe launch by around a month).
