UFC 70: Confirmed for Manchester

does anyone know if ??? was injured when he fell? The way his leg/ankle turned was sickening but then he appeared to be standing fine during the post fight interview. Either he has some flexible limbs or can hide the pain good.

PS for some reason the spoiler thing isn't working for me so put ??? not to give the result away.

Think he was alright after he came to terms with the loss but the way he fell was really bad :(

CroCop may be gearing up for some heavy training. He's leaving his government post to go back into the Secret Police, where he started his training.

CroCop looked very hesitant in the Gonzaga fight, definitely not like the CroCop I've seen before. I believe he will bounce back and be a lot more cautious to some of the heavy weight fighters. It almost looked as if Gonzaga played the kick game to perfection with CroCop. CroCop's defining game is his ability to mask his kicks and set you up much like a pitcher does. He consistently slaps kicks to your midsection, and then surprises you will the head kick when you are trying to block the low kick. It seemed in the fight CroCop was tensing up for a body shot and got caught heavy.

CroCop will be a force, no doubt, if he continues. He HATES media circus. So who knows. The Wanderlei Silva/CroCop fight had "FANTASY" fight written all over it in the Open Weight Grand Prix when they did that, and CroCop was fuming over it, but ultimately dominated Silva with a kick to the head.

Other than the final bout, UFC 70 was horrible. Arvloski was too cautious, and it was pure boredom. Sinosic was a waste. I mean, I don't want to see some guy just PUMMELL someone. I like the toe to toe fists flailing like the next guy, but pure dominance over another fighter, especially on the ground is boring. Assuerio Silva is probably the most boring fighter in MMA, IMO. His last 3 fights have all been boring, except for maybe the Tim Sylvia fight where they went toe to toe a few times.

When are we going to see Fedor Emelianko? The man is a monster. And not a dumb one at that. I'd love to see a Tito Ortiz/Wanderlei Silva rematch.

It was good to see Bisping win, however, I think it was a close call in the 2nd round. If the Aussie hadn't got owned by Bisping in the first round and tired himself out with his useless guard, I think he may have choked out Bisping.

However, he was so tired and Bisping just rolled out.

Where was Big John? Don't he like the UK? Or did I miss him refereeing a match?

Also, does anyone know what celebs attended? You usually get a lot of WWE Wrestlers and Film stars in USA. As well as Tito's gal! :p It would have been interesting if Paris Hilton had turned up. She usually does. The paparazzi would have had a field day!

Think Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand went...lol if you call them celebs

This reminded me of CroCop's knockout loss to Kevin Randleman. I think CroCop underestimated his opponent. If he faces Gonzaga again I'd bet on CroCop to win. So who does CroCop fight next? Arlovksi or Syliva? I'd like to see either.

The last two UFC events are a good example of how any fighter can win on any given night. With that taken into consideration, it makes Fedor's long winning streak that much more impressive (and he did just beat the #1 ranked middle weight in the world @ BodogFight).

I highly doubt we will see Crocop around for a good few months because now Arlovksi is the challenger to Gonzaga/Randy after that match happens...maybe Crocop will get an undercard match in that ppv...

Newly acquired UFC heavyweight and former PRIDE champion Mirko ?Cro Cop? Filipovic?s camp wanted to ?milk? the fighter?s contract by putting off a title shot, which led to his upset loss to Gabriel Gonzaga at this past weekend?s UFC 70 event, according to UFC president Dana White.

White made the statement to a reporter for an latimes.com story published last night.

According to the report, it wasn?t the UFC?s sole decision to delay Filipovic?s potential title shot with UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture. In fact, White said the decision came from Filipovic?s camp, which wanted to draw out the contract ? probably in hopes that the fighter could score a lucrative contract renewal if he became champion.

From latimes.com:

If a promotion holds off on a marketable fight with the mentality of building up both fighters, one or both may lose and the proposed fight goes out the window. That is what happened with Cro Cop, and White suggests that the decision to have Cro Cop face Gonzaga was as much Cro Cop?s decision as UFC?s.

?Cro Cop?s guys wanted to have a couple fights before they fought Randy Couture. And to be honest with you I think they wanted the fights to milk the contract.?

By defeating Filipovic, Gonzaga instead earned the title shot, which is expected to take place in August at UFC 73.

Although Filipovic recently stated that he suffered no serious damage from the KO head kick ? or the subsequent collapse and bending of his knee, ankle and foot ? little information has been available in regards to his future plans. A recent report stated that the Croatian would fulfill the remaining four fights on his UFC contract and then retire, but there?s been no official word from the UFC.

Said White:

?No idea. I don?t even know what he wants to do next. I?ll have to talk to his people, see what he?s thinking, see where his head is, no pun intended.

?I think he needs to go out and fight a big name guy. Gonzaga?s an awesome fighter but nobody knew who he was.?

That's such a load of garbage. Yeah, CroCop wanted to get his head pummeled into next week so he could milk the contract. Doubtful.

MMAWeekly said when they interviewed him that he had a lot of trouble adapting to the elbows. They also said he expressed concern about his defense of the elbowing tactics and plans to train hard to defend and use them in his next matches. He also mentioned that he did take some big elbows that caused him some blurred vision, and he wasn't as responsive.

If that is true, that could explain the "non-CroCop" fight that CroCop fought. He was slow, didn't move in and out of range like he usually does, and it almost seemed liked he didn't see the kick. Great fight by Gonzaga nonetheless.

Mirko might fight Chuck next, if Chuck has his way, he has stated he wants to fight him. I almost want to see Chuck beat Quinton, Mirko, and Wanderlei like he wants to just so he can try to take Fedor. Because I believe Fedor will wipe the floor with him, and I hate Chuck, lol, just my two cents.

Yeah I think the thing we take from this is Crocop was below par and if he was his usual self the fight could of been a whole lot different...

+1

but that has to be the craziest knockout, I wonder how that is gonna impact his career now, BTW is that considered a major injury?

I think he said he doesn't have ligament damage tho you can see his ankle is bent back ways it shouldn't be!!!

As for future Crocop will probably fight an eliminator next to get the right to get to title...because Gonzaga will face Randy and then its Arlovskis turn then it could be Mirkos if his heart is in it...

I see. well then I guess still no major injuries in UFC yet.

so who do you like between randy and Gonzaga and who do think will win? I like randy and I'm not sure gonzaga is what he seems to be, but I guess we will find out.

Arlovskis has lost all my respect, I don't even think he is a factor anymore tho it is UFC icon6.gif

I'm sure Crocop will be back

oh jackson or chuck?
