Chode
Hopefully this fixes the problem with the ATI X1950XT cards in Vista, when running fullscreen apps. Update: Nope, the bug is still there. The service ATI external utillity still crashes the displaydriver when running fullscreen apps. Release notes help. They warn specifically that x1950's are currenty not supported under Vista using this driver. The notes really are more than just files on a server, you know... I really hope they will fix this in the next release. Kind of stupid if they don't. Why release a driver when not all cards is supported. uniacidz
Thanks for the heads up Just a shame i went back to XP. Mind you, Vista is just harder to navigate through and XP is just easier but great finally a decent set of Graphics drivers. nVidia fans must be peeved that most ATI customers are getting happier and happier. AIW needs revamping and games like QIII, Prey and Q4 are getting better with each release of ATI drivers. Good stuff Hi everyone, I am using Acer Travelmate 8102 series notebook having mobility radeon x700 graphics in it. May i know whether this works with my laptop? Cause previous versions i tried will display some artifacts on 3D graphics. Example: grass on land cant be seen, trees having black cloth "tied" from the tree top down to the root side. Is there anyone capable of helping and answering my question? How on earth will others be able to answer you. Each system is different, each configuration etc. There are many things the user, yourself can do to make things better. Clean out the old drivers, uninstall and remove all ati files/folders if left and install the new drivers. The link for the mobile CATS are above in the thread and so, you and you alone will have to do the work and see if it works for you. Makes me fed up thought i got ban or what thats why no one reply me. :) LOLOL no worries Mobility drivers http://ati.amd.com/online/mobilecatalyst/ Thing with computers is alot of people have different configurations and even though Person A and B may have the same computer, the performance and even graphics can be poor due to many factors. As stated earlier, uninstall the old drivers. Old driver versions can affect the new drivers so make sure yuo clean them out completely. Go to the Program Files folder and remove the ATI folders Then install the new drivers, and let the system reboot. ATI mode change will be activated upon the next reboot and it will work. However i find another reboot does make it even sweeter. All in all, it comes down to testing. Not all graphics drivers will work well and so the thing is to just check them out and see how it pans out for you. I wish i have a dollar for every bit of 'testing' i have done for graphics card, motherboard and sound drivers. I would be a very rich man. Well maybe one that can afford a stress ball from all the stress from the testing. Anyhoos, good luck Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/540781-amd-catalyst-72-released/page/2/#findComment-588341838 Share on other sites

Aero Ultimate
Because you have PRO, not XT... ;) It's pretty much the same, except that the Pro has a bit lower clock rates (575 instead of 625MHz) and had some pixel shaders deactivated (vertex shaders are the same). Not a big difference,?so?I?don't?see?why?the?XT?should?behave?differently. lim3918
Thanks Jasur. I finally took the courage to try the new catalyst driver. And it works. No more artifacts i seen in many of the past driver versions. Thanks. Miuku.
Installed, works just as well as the previous driver. Don't use CCC tho', merely ATT and display drivers. Not sure if powerstrip has been updated for Vista but check that program out. It will let you run the resoltion you're looking for. Ryne
Not on Vista right now, but ever since I've installed this update on XP, Toca 3 keeps crashing. Practically every game is broken. I play for a few minutes, then everything goes black and I have to reboot. No problems beforehand. Sagittarius Veteran Posted February 23, 2007 Veteran Share Posted February 23, 2007 Hmm...I'll have to try these out and see if they fix the BSOD problem with the x1950XT's, though I'm not expecting too much. Just to note, has been a documented problem for most people running a x1950XT in Vista with the 7.1's, probably caused by something going wrong when the voltage jumps from 2D to 3D clocks. The only way to get it to stop currently is to disable the ATi service that switches to 3d clocks in fullscreen mode. There's a seven page thread on [H]ardOCP about it if you don't believe me: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1147110 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/540781-amd-catalyst-72-released/page/2/#findComment-588343718 Share on other sites
