Rudy
Another little hidden change is that you have to hold down the Eject key for it to work. So now if you accidently press it you wont eject a disc. im glad they changed it....i kept pressing the damn thing instead of the backspace another problem i have with the dvd drive is the noise it makes when you start the computer Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588401924 Share on other sites

Robgig1088
Wouldn't it be 10.4.10, 10.4.11, and so on? its 10.4.9 not 10.4.09 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588402229 Share on other sites
giga Veteran Posted March 17, 2007 Veteran Share Posted March 17, 2007 its 10.4.9 not 10.4.09 When did I ever say it was 10.4.09? You're confusing mathematical logic with system version numbers. (10.4.9 has two decimals in it--go figure) 10.x.y x = major release y = minor release In this case, Mac OS X Tiger is 10.4 and the minor release was 9. So following that, version 10 would be the follow up if Apple ever needed to release an update. (thus 10.4.10) http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/editors/20...x1049/index.php Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588402240 Share on other sites
saxondale.
If something crazy happens and an update is needed, then we might see another 10.4.X, but other than that, i really cant see another update for Tiger apart from security updates. BGraceTFaith
People have reported an increase in volume...any confirm this? Yep, I've noticed a significant increase. I thought it was from the iTunes update though. Guess I was wrong. Pc_Madness
Is 10.4.9 the cause of my long startup time? Or because I just deleted my Windows partition? It sits at the white screen for a while and then shows the loading icon. :\ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588415644 Share on other sites
temple_treefrog
Is 10.4.9 the cause of my long startup time? Or because I just deleted my Windows partition? It sits at the white screen for a while and then shows the loading icon. :\ I've noticed that as well! I was thinking it could be one of three things for me: - Installing the Mac OS 10.4.9 Update, - Removing my Windows partition via Disk Utility, or - Installing my new LaCie Firewire (400) ext. hard drive. If you discover the cause or a work-around please post. Pc_Madness
I stupidly did the update and removed Bootcamp during the same reboot, so I can't tell which caused it. :\ I'm going to install Bootcamp on monday again to give Vista a whirl so we'll see if its still sitting there for a while. (I deleted my partition via Bootcamp btw.. so perhaps it is .9 related.) osirisX
Is there any way to get rid of the eject button delay? I can't stand it! :pinch: Nope, there is no way to change it. Apple has deemed it best that you don't have the option to change it :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588452155 Share on other sites
PyX
There's probably a .plist file somewhere... All I can say is... 10.4.9 seems slower and less stable IMO. Not a bad update though if it fixes security stuff, but I thought it was going to make at least Safari snappier :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588452161 Share on other sites
Pc_Madness
I've noticed that as well! BootCamp was the culprit it seems booting up much quicker now that I've created a new partition. saxondale. .Neo
I can honestly say that I never accidentally hit the Eject key. Mainly because I use the physical sound controls on my SoundSticks rather than the ones on the keyboard/provided by the OS. Personally I wish that Apple would make stuff like this optional instead of forcing it upon all users. (confusing it for delete) Then the drive would make that sound and pop up on the screen. :| Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/546016-apple-os-x-1049-released/page/3/#findComment-588461754 Share on other sites
