Tantawi
The DirectX redist installation includes all the latest and previous released DirectX runtime. This includes the bi-monthly D3DX, XInput, and Managed DirectX components. Supported OSs: Windows 2000 -> Windows Vista. Download for x86/64: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en The SDK is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en And yes, you SHOULD install this on Windows Vista as stated per MS site, it doesn't touch DirectX 10. sjgore
And yes, you SHOULD install this on Windows Vista as stated per MS site, it doesn't touch DirectX 10. Yes, I notice that there is no specific reference to either DirectX 9 or 10 on the Microsoft site. It is just generically referred to as a 'DirectX update'. So does Vista ship with both 9 and 10 then? Or does installing this update in Vista install 9 for the first time? And will games run any better as a result? Or does this only update DX10 components? So many questions! Steve. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/551216-directx-redist-april-2007/#findComment-588450750 Share on other sites

Andareed
The exe includes both DirectX 9 and 10 components. Windows is increasingly using SxS installing, which means that you'll likely just end up with both DirectX 9 and 10 installed on Vista. If a program wants to use DirectX 9, it gets DirectX 9; if it wants DirectX 10, it gets DirectX 10. Ap0x
It appears that the first release had a fatal bug that crashed the OS, so they pulled it... Just a rumor...
