Mystical112
It appears that the first release had a fatal bug that crashed the OS, so they pulled it...Just a rumor... thats what i heard also... Viper_Maniac
Is there any reason to install this if you already have DX9(XP SP2)? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/551216-directx-redist-april-2007/page/2/#findComment-588461580 Share on other sites

ANova
Is there any reason to install this if you already have DX9(XP SP2)? None whatsoever unless a game specifically requires it. Viper_Maniac
Thanks. I always wondered about that so I figured I'd ask. Would it hurt anything to update anyways? +theblazingangel MVC Posted April 9, 2007 MVC Share Posted April 9, 2007 @Viper_Maniac, it definitely won't hurt anything because it doesn't actually replace anything! the new dll's it installs exist side by side with each other and the original copies. an application can decide which dll it wants to use and can probably fall back to the original copy if a newer one isnt available (i.e. you haven't installed this). you don't need to worry about breaking existing applications.
