gigapixels Veteran Posted April 28, 2007 Veteran Share Posted April 28, 2007 Anybody using this full time? I'd like to check it out but if it's really unstable I'll wait for a bit. Quillz
I want to try out the OS X build. Is there a way to keep this isolated from my 2.0.0.3 install? gigapixels Veteran Posted April 28, 2007 Veteran Share Posted April 28, 2007 Definitely, just rename the .app file to something else, and run the Profile Manager to create a new profile. In OS X it's a bit more out of the way than in Linux or Windows, but if you check out this page, it tells you how to get to the Profile Manager. Orry Verducci
Any screens of OS X version? They said they improved the Cocoa interface. I just tried it on my Mac (OS X 10.3.9) and the user interface is extremely buggy. Hardly anything is rendering properly (icons out of place, tabs looking very distorted, ect). Also, web pages don't seem to be using Cocoa widgets, which is a shame, as it means they still have buttons and such that look like Windows Classic. *John*
Is this stable and problem free enough for everyday use? Anyone? For Firefox 1.5 I jumped in at Deer Park alpha 3, and loved it. For Firefox 2.0 I jumped in at Firefox Beta 1, and loved it. It is ok to jump in at Grand Paradiso Alpha 4 this time around? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/556820-gran-paradiso-alpha-4-now-available-for-download/#findComment-588513385 Share on other sites
JoHideo
I gave it a try, but promptly uninstalled it. For whatever reason, was less responsive and felt heavier when I used it. Quillz
Any screens of OS X version? They said they improved the Cocoa interface. It looks as terrible as stock Firefox 2 does. I'm still using the custom Bon Echo build with Aqua Widgets. Hopefully that will be updated by the time Firefox 3 is officially released. PyX
I'm pretty sure they're not using Cocoa yet. Just look at the Preferences Pane... it's awful and it's old elements from pre-Tiger OS X versions. I can't wait until it seriously competes with Safari. The major problem is still the inconsistent UI compared to the rest of the OS...
