This is great news. I only have Vista on 1 system, but I still enjoy the nice visuals WB can provide on my XP PC's. If I could make one recommendation before the builds are finalised however, it would be to allow skinners the opportunity to use masks to define the areas that are blurred and those that feature a reflection map.

I remember being particularly excited about the reflection map capability, but unfortunately without being able to define a specific area, the feature is useless for a skin that includes inbuilt shadows in the frame, or where the frame has rounded edges. I have no idea how difficult it is to add this masking option to the frames as regards blurring and reflection, but it would definitely make both more usable.

What advantages will WB6 bring for a Vista user?

This article outlines some of the upcoming features of WindowBlinds 6, for both XP and Vista. Along with other goodies. :)

Does anyone know when WB6 will be coming out, or going to beta so we can give it a try?

There is not a set date for the beta right now, but when it's ready you will hear about it. The beta will be available for Object Desktop subscribers when it's ready.

Sorry for the lack of understanding here lol, but how is this different from the alpha blending option already supported in Windowblinds?

Also, i know off topic, but is it worth buying object desktop now, or should I wait until 2008 is released? And can you transfer it to a new PC (So if I buy it now, will I be able to transfer it to a laptop I'm hoping to get for xmas?)

Thanks.

With this feature you will be able to control the transparency effects, and apply these effects to different skins. Currently, WindowBlinds support per-pixel skins, but this feature kind of takes it to the next level.

It's also an optional feature, so if you don't want these effects, then you can simply turn them off.

For your question about Object Desktop. When you buy a subscription it is good for one year, and you will get all updates and any new OD software during that time period. OD 2008 is just a "snapshot" where a master DVD is created of the current software, but that irrelevant to users who purchase electronically as you get all the software throughout the year.

As you read in the article, a new edition called Object Desktop Ultimate is coming, and all active users of Object Desktop will be upgraded when the time comes, so I would keep that in mind. Let me know if you have any other questions, and you shouldn't have any problems transferring to a new PC.

:)

well i bought it :D

now i'm looking for themes.... i see there's two sections at deviantart.... windowblinds and windowblindsXP

anyone know what's the difference?

ps: it's working great btw! can't wait til WB6 is released with the blurring like Vista's aero glass (since no background blurring makes the title bar hard to read sometimes)
