I use one widget on the left side of my site ot break out recent posts in the categories and then I use the last.fm plugin and a shoutbox on the right sidebar. I've been thinking about widgetizing my theme, but I'm just not sure it's worth it. Perhaps if they were already using the plugin the new internal code is based off of. I have two sidebars hardcoded into my theme, though, and all is well.
