Speeding Up Firefox and IE Loading Times

Recommended Posts

I recently came across a site which shows you exactly how to change a setting on your browser window to allow pages to load up alot quicker.

Not sure if it works on dial up also, only tried it on broadband.

By carrying out these few tweaks on your internet browser either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox you can get images, and entire webpages loading at lightning speeds.

Pretty easy to understand, just click cancel if any popups come up, just follow the instructions.

Thanks :)

The link dont even work.

Well for Firefox anyway, pipelining has an internal limit of 8, so you can set it to whatever number you want, but it will never go higher than 8 (unless you modify the source and compile it yourself)

I set mine to 10 originally, ill change it back to 8 now that i know this,

Thanks :)

Its not really good information, its like hotlinking images, its a dick move if you know what you're doing.

I thought it was good information when i found out about it and used it and i wanted to share my findings with others so i uploaded it, if you dont like it, then theres no need to post on this topic is there.

It's true these are VERY old. But it's the first I've seen with video to show the less tech savvy people exactly how to do it. I have used some of these tweaks myself in the past, although the number values were much different for some. But recently I reset all of them just to see what would happen, and honestly some sites are even faster. Also if you ever had the problems with sites that just keeps loading and loading..well since resetting these "tweaks" back to defaults I've not had that problem. Now the only time that happens is when the host is under heavy load and there really is a server side delay. I don't use these settings anymore and I think web pages are much faster then with these settings. JMHO..and I was a big believer in these settings at one time.

Increasing the pipeline puts a heavier load on servers, hurting the websites you visit.

Pipelining actually reduces load on the servers (network load anyway)

Instead of creating a new connection for each object, it will create one connection and request 8 objects or so, so less sockets (and packets) are created, using less resources on the client and server (disk usage is the same regardless), and can speed up the browsing on high latency connections.

Sorry, I was thinking of something else.
